I installed CiS last night. So far about 20 log file have been created. When I try to open one from the View Logs tab, I select one of the saved file but nothing happens.
Reading a post on the form indicates that a program (cfplogvw.exe) should exist to open log files. That program is not found on PC.
What do I need to do to open and read these log files? tks in advance.
Which version of CIS do you have? The cfplogvw.exe application (the CIS external log viewer) was replaced in CIS 6 with an internal log viewer. The internal log viewer for CIS 6 (General Tasks - View Logs) should work just fine, although you should be aware that by default it only displays the current day.
ver 6
So are you saying that the saved log files cannot be viewed?
When I click the View Log tab, it displays nothing for Anti-Virus and Firewall. Displays 2 Defense+ and 1 alert. Yet it is pumping out a saved log file every 15 - 30 minutes.
Anyway, not all log entries are counted on the summary page since they are not all relevant (ie. security related/alerts). Such as, Tasks, Configuration, etc. The Configuration & Defense+ entries, in particular, on a new installation can log many entries as CIS learns your system/set-up (depending on the settings used).
I’ve attached some images from my Logs to show you what I mean.
