Cannot install CFP

Downloaded CFP, but could not install. After pressing ‘run’ a small box appeared saying…“Comodo Firewall Pro is already installed on your system. Do you want to un-install it now?”, with 2 buttons…Yes or No. Tried both options, at my latest attempt I saved it to Desktop with the same results, as I’ve now downloaded several times and tried the ‘run’ option to no avail.

CFP is not in “Add Remove Programs”, also did a search of my pc, and nothing to be found re CFP.

I have the AVG Free Edition anti-virus and anti-spyware.

Can anyone please help this very simple soul?

Hi, Have you had comodo firewall installed in teh past?

You may want to check out this thread, it has a file you can download which will remove all traces of CPF from your pc.

Even if you have never installed it, I don’t suppose it can hurt to run it.

heyyou,

I’ve merged your four duplicated posts into one thread, and moved to the Help section of the firewall forum. We ask that you refrain from duplicate posts about the same question/issue.

Apparently you have installed CFP previously, based on this post:
https://forums.comodo.com/help/comodo_firewall_wont_load_at_windows_startup-t8074.0.html;msg58576#msg58576

You will need to make sure you remove all traces of it prior to installing again. BTW, which version DID you have, and which version are you TRYING to install?

Tnx,

LM

Little Mac,

Sorry for the bother re those duplicate posts. I just have not got the hang of this PC stuff yet, I’m not a geek for sure!!

Yes I did have CFP, but always had to load it up from my desktop.

But due to a big problem with my pc (lost all emails etc, long story). A friend helped me with this new pc, he did his best to transfer my stuff to this pc. He has put a free version of “Winzip” on this pc, I just hope I’m doing the right thing when I unzip the comodo uninstall zip. Still not sure???

Anyway, the first thing I did was download CFP from Comodo site (as my experience with CFP was just great). The version must have been the latest one that I downloaded I suppose.

Sorry for being annoying, I do hope this very simple soul can be helped !!

Heyyou

Not a geek? Hmm, yet you’ve managed to get your post count to say “I am a geek!!” Which is true?

Okay, so you’re on a new computer now, and your friend has copied files from your old computer. Ugh! Sounds like a mess to start with (since we don’t know what you have or don’t have)… In that case, I don’t know that the zipped file you downloaded from pandlouk’s post is going to help you. It shouldn’t hurt to try it, though.

If that doesn’t work for you, I would suggest booting into SafeMode, and check for Program Files entries related to Comodo Firewall; if there are any, delete them.

Still in SafeMode, run a registry cleaner like ccleaner or regseeker (be sure to use their options to create a backup prior to deletion of any files). You may also want to open the registry (Start/Run, type “regedit”), and see if this key is present:
HKLM\System\Software\Comodo\Firewall.… if so, delete it. This (in my experience) is the main registry key that seems to interfere with reinstalling the firewall.

Reboot into SafeMode again, and try to install CFP 2.4. With today’s security applications, it is a good idea to install & uninstall in SafeMode to avoid potential conflicts with other applications and services.
