Downloaded v38.0.5.2 from “A new version of Comodo IceDragon is available for download!” message and tried to upgrade over the portable install of v26.0.0.2.
Changed install directory to where v26 is installed. Didn’t get the option to install as portable, it just went and installed over v26, but as a new user account, as opposed to using the old UserData profiles.
Should be easy to fix just by creating and maintaining a small .ini file in the install directory, would be good idea for Comodo Dragon as well, completely bypassing registry.
Couldn’t find any portable instructions for v38.0 on the site.
I agree there are a few bugs, but just installation-type bugs. As I see it:
The install process ignores that it’s replacing a portable version
The install has no portable option
And no option to turn secureDNS on or off (it appears off, but I’m not sure).
And shows ‘portable’ in About page even though not portable.
I do hope these issues are acknowledged soon and an update is released to resolve this, as IceDragon 38 runs quite well.
In the interim, you can make it portable by this:
a. copy the profile from the appdata/remote/Comodo folder and place in your CID folder
b. Click ‘properties’ on desktop shortcut and add -profile “fullpath to profile here in quotes” to TARGET, e.g.
C:\yourdirectory\Comodo\IceDragon\icedragon.exe -profile “C:\yourdirectory\Comodo\IceDragon\Profiles”
I think that will work for you. That’s what I did. Good luck.
