Hello - I just downloaded and intalled CIS (Firewall only). So far, it seems like a great firewall. I would like to use it to block access for my kids to myspace.com. Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to do this. Thank you very much!
G’day,
- Open CIS
- CLick FIREWALL->ADVANCED->NETWORK SECURITY POLICY->GLOBAL RULES
- Click ADD
- Action : BLOCK
- Protocol : TCP OR UDP
- Direction : OUT
- Description : Block MySpace
- Source Address : ANY
- Destination Address : HOST NAME - 216.178.38.116
- Source Port : ANY
- Destination Port : ANY
- APPLY
- In the Global Rules window, click on the newly created MySPace rule and use the UP button to move it to the top of the list.
- Click APPLY
Hope this helps,
Ewen
Go to Firewall > Comon Tasks > My Blocked Networks Zones
Click Add > A New Blocked Address
Check A Host Name and enter www.myspace.com in the box next to it.
Then just hit apply.
Thanks so much to both of you. Worked perfectly!
No worries - we’re here to help.
FYI :
[Lua]madman’s repliy is the convenient way to do it. My way is the old fashioned manual way to do it. In the end they accomplish the same task.
Cheers,
Ewen
