hi, i am currently using comodo as my antispyware, and ive noticed lately that when i close down my computer i get a litle grey box that pops up and says rundll32.exe end now. can anyone shed any light on what it could be or tell me how to resolve this issue, i know that spyware can take this form as a dll file. i have done a highjack this log if it helps.

I’m suspecting this one is bad also:
O4 - HKLM..\Run: [Waiting1690] C:\Windows\stid1690.exe
Can you check CIS, Defense+ List active processes and see if it’s running ?
If so select it and right click, select “Terminate and Block” after that you can remove it with HijackThis.
hi ronny, i just checked on my list and i cannot see it running,do i have to perhaps expand anything in the list to search further? or is this the exact line that i will see on there:O4 - HKLM..\Run: [Waiting1690] C:\Windows\stid1690.exe

No on the process list it should only show this.
C:\Windows\stid1690.exe
It could also be that that file no longer exists on disk but that only the registry key is left there.
You could search for that file to see if it still is on you disk.
Open a command-box (Start, Run, type cmd and press ENTER)
dir c:\windows\stid16901690.exe
and press ENTER after that to see if it exists.

i have done a search and it says file does not exist. where do i go from here?
You can safely remove the entry with hijackthis, just select that one line and press FIX
You can also try this to see if it’s marked hidden or system
dir c:\windows\stid16901690.exe /h
dir c:\windows\stid16901690.exe /s
