can a firewall block out a external hard drive?

                                                     Hi Everybody,

I have some detection issues with a Seagate freeagent desktop external HD. And I read on another forum that firewalls can sometimes block external drive via a 1394 port or USB port .
Is that possible ?

I have found that Windows based software firewalls can block just about anything. I had issues with my Drobo and the firewall software. It’s possible, but I suggest someone with a bit more tech knowledge confirm for sure for you…

If the 1394 or USB ports are being configured to run Internet Protocol, then CFP will consider those devices to be just another network adapter and block or accept traffic accordingly.
