C Firewall Freezes When Clicking on name of the process in the Alert Prompt[314]

I am having issues with the gui pop up alerts with comodo, I always have since version 3.5. Every time I click on the alert where it mentions the actual process being affected to get more info. It freezes every single time. It locks up and since u can’t actually quit comodo via process manager or process hacker, than u have to restart.

I am not the only one getting this problem either the only work around that I have found is to just not click the process link.

  2. What actually happened or you actually saw:completely froze have to restart
  3. What you expected to happen or see:it freeze
  4. How you tried to fix it & what happened:tried complete reinstall/reformat, still does it
  5. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes?:I don’t think it is
  6. Details (exact version) of any application involved with download link:all comodo CIS versions or firewall from 3.5 and up
  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen:have a pop up alert and click the process link
  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):

Your set-up

  1. CIS version, AV database version & configuration used:latest as of today and versions 5.0
  2. a) Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 3 or 4, if so b) have you tried reinstalling?:Yes
  3. a) Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS, if so b) have U tried a preset config?:No I alwasy recreate mine

What does that mean?

Please read here.

Ah ok so you have verified my report and you are moving to actually reproduce the issue and fix the bug. Alrighty then, I think we can consider this reporting buisness done with.

The bug/issue

  1. What you did: Clicked on the process name in the Defense+ Alert window. (see attached images)
  2. What actually happened or you actually saw: Comodo Firewall froze and stays frozen until system restart. (see attached images)
  3. What you expected to happen or see: The application information window.
  4. How you tried to fix it & what happened: I disabled the TeraCopy Context Menu, and this resolved the issue (see below). (Perhaps this is a bug that needs to be solved by TeraCopy…)
  5. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes?: It is an application incompatibility: TeraCopy. Disabling the TC context menu solves the issue. (see below)
  6. Details (exact version) of any application involved with download link: TeraCopy v2.12 - http://www.codesector.com/files/teracopy.exe
  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen: Install TeraCopy. Then click on the process name in the Defense+ Alert window.
  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
TeraCopy is the cause, and disabling its context menu solves the issue. See image:

  4. Other major changes to the default config (eg ticked ‘block all unknown requests’, other egs here. ) Not applicable as the cause is known and unrelated to this.

Comodo Firewall Freezes When Clicking on name of the process in the Alert Prompt

Here it is in pictures:

  1. I am alerted regarding WinRAR. (It can be any application. WinRAR is just an example.)

  2. I click on the WinRAR process in the “Defense+ Alert” window.

    http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/1460/comodoalert210302010120.png

Comodo stays frozen this way and inaccessible from the tray until a restart. (The restart takes a couple of minutes or so waiting for Comodo to quit.)

  1. Here are images from Process Monitor. I began the capture immediately before clicking on WinRAR in the alert window.

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation

Dennis
