My results with the CAVS 2.0.0.2 Beta …
Three times I have uninstalled CAVS 2.0.0.2 Beta, re-booted, and installed it again; but each and every time I have experienced the same outcome. And each time I have not been able to open the Comodo AntiVirus user interface, so I have not been able to view it or poke around in it, etc… On a positive note, the uninstallation process appears to work alright.
During each installation process I receive the error message: “Comodo AntiVirus License Activation Module has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.” Once the message is dismissed, by choosing either the Send Error Report or Don’t Send, the CAVS installation continues.
After it’s “installation” finishes, I re-boot. Upon entering Windows, CAVS begins the process of creating it’s User’s Profiled Safelist database (UPSD): it checks 68200 files, and the number of files in its UPSD is 9694 files. It takes 6 minutes and 30 seconds to complete.
And while creating this UPSD the system is slow to respond, with lag times in responding to a previous mouse click or keyboard press. And the system pretty much remains unusable, with the same symptoms, even after the UPSD has completed; of course HIPS is still doing it’s own thing.
When I click on the Submit button of the Safelist file submission window (the only window which shows itself to me :-0) I receive the following error message, “Your Internet connection is not active. Please check your connection and try again.” (However I am indeed connected to the Internet.) So I click on the OK button of the error message dialogue box and click on the Submit button again, and it begins the submission of files. I go through this process each time the Safelist file submission window newly opens.
And speaking of the CAVS Safelist file submission window, could the Default width of column headings be adjusted so that on first run of this window it will also show the Progress column heading. This would be a help to the end user being able to know it is working, being able to see the progress it is making. Presently after pressing the Submit button all one immediately sees, without scrolling horizontally, is that the Submit button is greyed out.
I may yet take the plunge and try installing CAVS 2.0.0.2 Beta for the fourth time, but if not then I will definitely download and install the next Beta release.
Looking forward to the next rendition of the CAVS Beta. All stability, speed, and performance improvements welcome.
