Browser Alert

Since I installed the latest update, I’m getting browser alerts (for Firefox prefs.js) when my background backup is executed (HIPS is disabled).
Very annoying as the backup doesn’t complete successfully.
I’ve been searching, but couldn’t find it, where I can switch this off, or where I could change that rule to exclude the backup software
Thanks

Under HIPS settings at the very bottom disable “Show alert in case any other software attempts to modify current settings of installed browsers”

Thanks for the reply.

2 Weird things about this :

[ol]- It seems to be a HIPS setting, but HIPS is disabled here, so why is the alert given ?

  • A little explanation : the backup software makes a copy on my NAS. If on the NAS there is already a version, that one is moved into Archive, so :
    Firefox\pref.js–copy–>NAS\prefs.js–move–>NAS\Archive\prefs.js.
The alert is given upon the move (see bold). [/ol]

Both above are actually reasons I should not get the alert
Weird

It’s an inconsistency in the UI that is also true for the Buffer overflow/shellcode detection.

It looks like the function (also) looks at filenames. You could file it as a bug in the bug section.
