blurred camera result

hi it’s me, ;D
need a little help.

i have this pentax optioM10 digital camera.
this morning i gave the camera to my colleague to take some pictures, but he complained… basically he told me my camera sucks 88)

i post the camera result sample here, and for comparison i also take picture of the same object with my phone’s camera.
indeed, my camera sucks :-\

so you guys know the problem? maybe some setting i should know about? :-La
i have some old pictures taken from the same camera & they’re fine ???

It’s not related with any settings.
That’s a shutter malfunction.
Your shutter is out of order.
Bring it to the repair shop.
But…the cost will be $40~$50…
It’s up to you.

wow, you know everything, don’t you :-*

what the hell is a shutter? 88)
$50? but i’m saving my money to get “bayonetta” game

and do you know what cause this? the shutter malfunction problem?
coz i actually never use my camera (i have my phone’s camera), my colleague’s the one who use it a lot >:(
i’m gonna sue! $50 for repairment & $5000 for punitive damage >:(

edit: i asked around, and got some opinions:
opinion 1: if it’s not setting issue, then it must be hardware problem (thanks a lot mister detective 88) )
opinion 2: it’s the CMOS, and it costs around $100

it shows you how the shutter works.

1. aged. 2. used too many times.

yes, it must be hardware problem(Shutter problem).
opinion 2: it's the CMOS, and it costs around $100 :'(
No, it's not the CMOS problem. If the problem is CMOS, it shows you muddy or colored photo. Sometimes, your LCD shows you almost same screen as the photo.

I think you should better buy a new camera instead of repairing it.

ow,then that’s not the case.
the LCD shows perfectly fine picture, but the result after i take the shot is disaster. it’s too bright with horizontal lines.

I think you should better buy a new camera instead of repairing it.
but what about bayonetta? :'(

that’s not the case either. my dad bought it about 2 years ago. rarely use it.
is it considered old? ???

anywho…it’s positive that it really is a real problem (not setup issue).
i’m taking it to reaper, i mean repairment shop.

thx a lot gcreasy :-*

You need to consider about the environment of depository for the camera.(warm, hot, humid)
Maybe Corrosion?
Otherwise it’s an early defective.

good luck.
I hope it’s not the shutter problem.

after the stolen laptop incident, i keep it in the office vault 88)
cool temperature.

Otherwise it's an early defective. good luck. I hope it's not the shutter problem.
what? but i hope it's the shutter problem. not the CMOS ;D

Let him buy a new one !

Does this vault have some sort of electronic / magnetic locks in it ?

errr yes 88)

Can you shoot a movie without problems ?

errr i don’t have the camera with me right now. haven’t tried.
you think it would be different? :-La

Well it’s free to try >:-D It’s very likely a problem with the shutter but it can’t hurt to test a few things before you put it in the bin  you can also try to format the memory card but that will probably also not help… but it won’t hurt to try.

Let’s ■■■■ out GANDA’s vault.
There will be something adult stuffs…hm… ;D ;D ;D
adult…hm…

wilco. beside, all of my friends here agree with one thing: i should get a new one instead of trying to repair it
what about the electronic lock? does it have anything to do with the issue? ??? cos i also keep my laptop & external HDD in that vault 88)

heey, it’s supposed to be a secret >:(

ganda <> adult >:-D

wow you’re fast. i edited my post.
so what about the electronic lock? does it have anything to do with the issue?
cos i also keep my laptop & external HDD in it 88)

btw i’ve tried:

  1. recording movie: the movie’s fine :-TU
  2. format the memory card: nah didn’t help. i still have the same blurred result

Recording movies keeps the shutter open so that’s probably the cause like creasy already posted.
One other thing you could try is to set the Shutter settings to manual on a long shutter time and take a shot with the camera on a desk so it doesn’t move like 1sec 2sec etc see if that makes any difference.

i can’t find the shutter setting.
but nevermind. i’ll just bring it to the repairment shop. or i’ll just get a new one.
i think camera is pretty cheap nowadays :-La

:-La Try doing a reset first G if you can find it.

I`ve got an Optio 550 and to reset you hit Menu/Fn->move along to the spanner and screwdriver->use the down button and the last on the list should be reset.

After check what settings it says after you press Menu for “rec mode”

Recorded pixels should be the highest setting (mines 2592x1944)
Quality level = 2 stars
White balance=AWB
Focusing area=wide
AE Metering= ???
Sensitivity=Auto
Sharpness, Saturation+Contrast= all in the middle

p.s. If you do a reset to factory settings i think you lose all the pics, check the manual.

p.p.s. Apparently to do a factory reset on some Pentax cameras you have to hold on the Power and Menu buttons or the Power, Menu and Flash buttons…Good Luck :-*
