I do not consider Internet Explorer a safe application and I want it blocked by the firewall. I have used “Define a New Blocked Application” to make a rule but it does not work. Even moving the rule to the top of the list does not block IE, it seems to work no matter what I try. I don’t want anyone with access to my computer to use this browser, and, since it isn’t wise to delete it, I want it blocked. Anyone more skilled than I would be welcome to teach an old dog a new trick.
Oh, that’s one of the first things that I did; usually do WMP and OE as well (why does Comodo consider Microsoft to be a trusted vendor?).
Didn’t know that it wasn’t blocked, as eventually CFP stopped everything including itself!
Same problem here I want it blocked by the firewall. I have used “Define a New Blocked Application” to make a rule but it does not work
UPDATE!!
Remove Internet Explorer entries from Firewall/Advanced/Network Security Policy & Defense+/Advanced/Computer Security Policy & click apply in both cases.
Set Defense+/Advanced/Defense+ Settings to Paranoid Mode, click apply.
Click on Internet Explorer icon in Quick Launch toolbar and block all requests to start Internet Explorer, return Paranoid Mode to original settings, click apply.
Not a very conventional method but the only sure method to block an application.
Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.
