3.0.19.318 and now 3.0.20.320 lists “…been updated to protect more resources” as an improvement. I have many rules that got wiped out the last time I “updated” CFP to 3.0.18.309, and I had to recreate them all.
Someone else asked something like this but I couldn’t find an answer.
Is this going to happen again if I update? Should I be writing down every rule I make? Does “Exporting” buy me anything?
Right now, I’ve stopped “updating” because I don’t need the hassle of re-fixing something that’s working.
Updating shouldn’t affect your current rules, it should only add new items (like registry keys, COM interfaces). Well, if you do a clean install (delete old version, and install the newer one), you’ll loose everything, if you don’t export it.
Using the export-function will save your current configurations for Defense+ and the firewall.
Good. I’ll give it a shot. I guess if worse came to worst, and I had to import my old configuration, I could do so. That would blow away the “new COMODO” default rules though - Right?
Yeah. they don’t specify what’s added in the new update, but it’s not too much to worry about, but it’s always interesting to know.
