this is a copy of the email i sent to tech support. i got a reply asking for my operating system etc.
i was wondering if anyone else was having this problem with Battlefield 2.
“attached is a log of one of my many attemps to launch battlefield 2
it is set to “allow all activities for this application” “skip parent”
“allow invisible connection attempts” yet it still blocks it. the only
way i can log in to bf2 is to disable the firewall, which defeats the
whole object of having one.”

CPF is detecting an in memory infection! The suspicious process C:\Documents and Settings\Mick\Local Settings\Temp~e5.0001 may be a virus, trojan horse or something harmful. But CPF must raise a popup instead of blocking it automatically.
If you believe this file is not harmful, then you can disable CPF’s infection monitor by deselecting Security->Advanced->“Monitor Memory Infections” temporarily.
But I must tell you that this behavior is only acceptable if you are somehow debugging the application.
I have a similar problem with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

when examining the properties of tje ~e5d141.tmp file I find it is a cleanup tool created by Macrovision Europe Ltd. I suspect it is there to flush from memory the startup screens used by Flight Simulator.
I too can get the programme to run error free by disabling Monitor Memory Infections but this is less than ideal.
BF2 is protected by SafeDisc. Therefore it creates a process “~E5.0001” in memory which will write to memory sections of the main executable “BF2.EXE”. This is only there while the game is running.
Applying a no CD patch means you shouldn’t have to switch off Monitor Memory Infections.
I looked for this and there is nothing worded like that, I switched off all of them and BF2 still crashed. Comodo also isn’t making a log of why it’s stopping BF2. What next?
HELP! I too am having trouble with BattleField 2 and Comodo firewall that I just installed. I’ve tried everything mentioned here and I’ve made progress but not there yet.
I can login into the EA server for my online account. I can view the multiplayer servers and join one. It loads the map and then as soon as I click on the “Join” button, it takes me to the screen with the map and roles to choose. At this point, my wireless mouse and keyboard stop working completely. I cannot ESC from the game, but I can do an Alt-Tab and switch to another window and the mouse and keyboard work again. But when I Alt-Tab back to the game, they are frozen.
Everything was working fine when I had Panda Firewall up until today. The Comodo Firewall is definitely doing something. Oh, and if I don’t play the game online, just a single player local game, the mouse and keyboard work fine.
What’s going on? Thanks for taking time to help me.
UPDATE:
I just discovered that if I deactivate the firewall, the mouse and keyboard work. As soon as I activated it and went back to the game it froze.
My Comodo Setting:
Application: BF2.exe
Destination: Any
Port: Any
Protocol: TCP/UDP In/Out
I’ve played with all the other settings like Parent, Invisible connections, skip advanced security, etc. None of them made a difference. I also tried the ~e5.0001 and no luck.
