I also am having code 4 troubles with CB 2.2.127000.12 . . .
Here is my info in case anyone has a workaround or if it is helpful to debug:
Server 2003 R2
Drive “C” file/folder backup works fine. I can back up everything (around 50 gig).
Drive “E” file/folder backup fails. Does not seem to matter how much is backed up. I tried sizes from a few gig to several hundred. Gives error as follows from the log:
Creating New Backup…
Collecting Information…
Error Occurred
Backup process failed with code 4
Drive “C” & “E” are the same physical drive, just 2 different partitions. I did all my tests without scheduling. I tried putting the backups in a subfolder to see if that would help; it didn’t. The backup destination drive is a USB Western Digital with plenty of free space. Server is an Intel based dual core Xeon.
I also have the message : “Backup process failed with code 4” when trying to backp Files and directories (all), system state and Disk, partition and MBR (all of them)… At step 6, the process never start and after waiting a long time I click abort and then I see the message about code 4???
I can not backup my entire registry either, at step 6 before anything start I got a popup from windows 7 indicating to me that Comodo backup has stoped and must be closed!?!?!
What is the problems and how can I solved it?
Here’s the info about my system :
I have a mini-laptop from DELL (Inspirion Mini)
I have windows 7 starter
I use Comodo Backup latest version
My security and recovery products are :
Comodo Internet security 4.0 (latest version)
Immunet protect
Comodo time machine
sandboxie
The problem might be caused by the destination drive.
Try to save the backup(s) on another destination such as another partition on the local computer or on network.
The problem is certainly not related to destination, the one you quote have a Western Digital as for me I have one external hard disk Maxtor and one Iomega…
Hi,
I’ve the same problem but, I resolving with splitting the file backup with 700Mb.
At first moment I’ve changed partition for backup in local disk at in this moment I’m copy in the partition where born the problem…
Ok the backup is finished in 10’ via Lan 100Mb (8842 files, 455 folders for 3.37 Gb)…
I’ve got this error now. When doing a user settings backup on to a nas. I can make it happen too, whilst its backing up my C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ folder. Just launch Chrome. The first time it happened, i had chrome open, and these were the last lines of the log
Processing C:\Users\Colin\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\data_3
User settings backup failed !
Backup process failed with code 4
If i close chrome and run the backup, its carries on through the chrome folder, then fails a few seconds after opening chrome.
I’m really surprised CB fails just because it cant open a fail to read. Why doesn’t it just give a serious warning but carry on? Or an option to enable this? I dont really care about some cache folder in my usersettings. After all post XP, its the only folder apps should write to, so caches are going to have to there!
Error 4 is a generic error code. It indicates that the operation was not successful.
The problem with Google Chrome locked file(s) will be fixed in the next release.
In December 12th 2009 I made some backup DVDs of a partition of my computer. By that time, nothing wrong happened and the process was completed without any errors.
Yesterday I needed to recover those files that I have backed up, however this error occurs (backup process failed with error 4).
I this bug fixed? Have I lost my files? Is there a way to have my files back?
You can get the files back.
I need some more information:
Does the restore process require restart?
Does Diagnostics in settings tab say that the application is installed correctly?
Do you have the log of the restore operation?
