Backup never actually backs up files

Hi, I just installed comodo backup, and I tried to set up a very simple scan that would copy to an external hard drive. I have physically copied the files myself, so there are no user permission errors. I get A log somewhat like the following:

Test of a simple backup:
8/21/2008 at 11:25:00 AM | Comodo BackUp started.
8/21/2008 at 11:26:19 AM | BackUp started in Testing Mode.
8/21/2008 at 11:26:19 AM | BackUp Source: I:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents
8/21/2008 at 11:26:19 AM | Excluded Directories in I:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents are:
8/21/2008 at 11:26:19 AM | BackUp Destination: J:\Desktop Backup
8/21/2008 at 11:26:19 AM | Test Done Successfully

Manual runs of this backup:
8/21/2008 at 11:28:46 AM | Backup “Desktop Backup” started.
8/21/2008 at 11:28:46 AM | Created folder J:\Desktop Backup

An attempt at system backup:
8/21/2008 at 11:42:38 AM | Backup “Desk” started.
8/21/2008 at 11:42:38 AM | Calculating backup size…
8/21/2008 at 11:42:51 AM | Backup “Desk” started.
8/21/2008 at 11:42:51 AM | Calculating backup size…

In all cases nothing actually changed in J:\Desktop backup, even if the files were already there. I know there was a post with a similar problem, but no solution was reached.

This computer is roughly a year old, and is very simple XP SP2, minimal software running.

Hi and Welcome cyrogenic

It sounds like you have the same problem as flangad in this thread. Read it over and see if any of what is suggested there will help you. Post back and let us know.
