Backing up 30GB of System partition

i would like to know how long will it take to backup my C: system partition around 30gb of size?

will it be able to boot if i put it on a new hard drive?

currently on win 7 32bit, c2d 2.0g, 4g ram.

really appreciate any help.

It will take about 30 minutes.

You need to include the system reserved drive into backup (this is a hidden partition created by Windows 7 which stores boot order and other boot settings) or you could backup the entire hard disk, but then the new hard drive would need to be at least the same size as the original.
After you restore the backup to your new hard drive, it should be bootable.
To be sure go to Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Computer Management → Disk Management and make sure the System reserved partition is marked as active.

ok. thanks a lot for this information.
