AV Update Error

Hello, I don’t know if I’m posting in the correct spot, this is the most confusing and non user friendly forum I’ve ever visited. For some reason all of a sudden, I keep getting an update error for the signature database. The recognizer and program updates are ok, but not the signature database. This in turn causes a message from the Windows Action Center stating that my computer is unprotected due to not being up to date. Can someone please help me!!! I would be so grateful

I would suggest one of these two boards would be best option to post your issue april, posting in the first one probably be the better choice, the ‘AntiVirus Help - CIS’ board, hope someone can help you

  1. Security Products & Services > Comodo Internet Security - CIS > Help - CIS > AntiVirus Help - CIS
  2. Security Products & Services > Comodo Internet Security - CIS > News / Announcements / Feedback - CIS > Comodo AV Database update page

I’ve moved this to a more appropriate section of the forum. Hopefully you will soon receive helpful advice.

By the way, which version of CIS are you using?

I have merged both replies about the same issue into the same topic. For future reference, please do not post two duplicate replies about the same issue. One will suffice.

Thank you.

I have the latest version of CIS Premium (7.0.317799.4142) running on 3 different PCs. All show the same error when updating. The web-filter and program updates are OK but the virus signature update shows an error. The last signature version that updated regularly was 18315.

Is the problem still happening? At the moment of writing the version number of the AV database is 18413.

Hello, I am still having the same update error problem for signature updates. The version I am using is Comodo Anti Virus 7.0.53315.4132. Please be patient with me, I am technologically challenged so am not exactly sure what I’m doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the error message that is reported?

It doesn’t give any specifics, the status for registered updates and program updates are ok, but the signature update just says error. I can’t view the log either, it is shadowed out and I can’t view it.

I have the same problem.

CIS Premium ver: 7.0.317799.4142
Database: 18405 (imported by Comodo Anti Malware Database Latest Version & Additions 2022)
in log file still occurring: 2014-06-03 17:24:53 - 0x80072ee2 (Unknown error 0x80072EE2)
I reinstalled CIS, but the problem still persists.

Well it’s nice to know someone is experiencing the same problem as me. Now, if only someone would provide a solution. I was going to purchase this product, but now I’m not so sure. It seems they try to push you into purchasing the product in order to receive help and I don’t think that’s right. If you’re going to provide a free version, but make it to where you eventually have to buy the product in order to get decent coverage, then don’t provide a free version.

Does reinstalling by following the advice I give in this post allow CIS to properly update?

After uninstallation i cleaned the system by ccleaner (registry and etc.).
I have Win 7 64bit. I read these tips and are a waste of time for me

Did you follow Chiron’s procedure?

I did.

Go to Proxy and host settings under Advanced Settings → Updates.

Try adding a single server address to the list. Comodo has various servers over the world. Try:
eu1.download.comodo.com
eu2.download.comodo.com
eu3.download.comodo.com
us1.download.comodo.com
us2.download.comodo.com

See this as a temporary measure. Normally download.comodo.com will load balance and will connect to available server. Let us know if using a specific server helps to get the av update working on your end.

Just wanted to add my voice to those receiving the indeterminate “Error” message when trying to update the signatures. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and using specific servers as listed above. The log reports an error code 0x80072ee2.

At last CIS downloaded database by proxy! If i turn off proxy, CIS can’t download.

It’s strange, i have laptop in the same homework, with the same ver CIS (but another system: Win XP) and this laptop allways download database without proxy.

Ok, well it worked, changing the server. Thank you for the help
