AV-Test.org test on DEP and ASLR support [merged]

it was fixed ages ago.

V6 vs V8. Big difference in security protection. Old reports cannot be used with newer, updated software. Its like comparing apples to oranges. The entire report is invalid with today’s computer software.

nice to hear…

Hello friends,

Thank you for all of your feedbacks.

ALSR and DEP issues will be addressed in CIS 9 Beta; we have it fixed in our backlog today. But ofcourse we should keep in mind that these are actually compiler settings and not only way for self-protection. This grade we get was about the testing metadology of AV-Test. We have our own protection methods within the CIS.

For your kind information pls.

Best Regards
Buket

Thank you Buket. Will all executables with CIS 9 have DEP and ALSR set?

Hi EricJH,

All CIS9 binaries will have ALSR and DEP set.

For your kind information ,

Buket

Thank you for letting us know. :-TU

Mellih just said that it was fixed “ages ago”. What did I miss here?

That was in response to the topic hijack by hjlbx. It was not in response to the subject of DEP and ASLR enabling.

Interesting. So, if DEP is not an option as you mentioned, what would you recommend AV-Test to test CIS protection against with?

You didn’t read. That test was only to determine IF DEP and ASLR were turned on in the program. That was all.
Melih answered you above.

there was no test in the first place!

Vlk from avast! made an interesting comment on Wilders regarding this test…

His first comment in the topic says it all, I would have though if you are going to do a test at the very least do it well :frowning:

Dennis

Against the upcoming CIS v9…
