I run far cry 3 in sandbox mode cause it seems the only way to make it load fast. Now it quit working and the only fix is to reset my sandbox. Does anybody know where it might store files from a sandboxed game?
The problem is that if i run Far cry 3 normally i loose 8 hours of progress. If I can run it in sandbox mode my save game files are there that I need. I just cannot find them before I reset sandbox settings.
Hi syllinx,
[code=Path]%SystemDrive%/VTRoot
As qmarius mentioned, CIS stores the Fully Virtualized Sandbox data in the %SystemDrive%\VTRoot folder, normally C:\VTRoot. Please note that this folder is hidden and you need to enable showing of hidden files/folders in order to see it.
After getting VTRoot to show you want to find your way to something like C:\VTRoot\HarddiskVolumeX\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\ - I would recommend copying the whole savegames folder to your real system.
Alternatively you could run explorer.exe in the sandbox (Go to Windows folder, right-click explorer.exe and then run in Comodo Sandbox) then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\ and copy the whole folder first to your Shared Space and then from explorer.exe run outside sandbox you copy it to the appropriate location (I don’t know if copying directly without going through shared space will work)
If you get that working, then you could also in the future set up an exclusion for the savesgames folder so that access to it won’t be virtualized even for sandboxed applications and hence the sandboxed game should be able to save to the real location, I can tell you how to set that up if you want.
Worked perfectly. Was able to recover my save game files. Thanks!!
