Hello,
I use comodo firewall, I want to know that if I use a proxy (e.g. UltraSurf) and dont enter any passwords or usernames is there any other dangers !?
If you use VPN they can only view your trafic, everything you accesed and every password you enter. This is the only rescue
thx for reply,
is using UltraSurf safe ?
if not is there any way to use it in a safe way ? I mean stopping it from doing any harm
I don’ no so much abou ultrasurf. I test it right now. You can try JonDo, but in free versions it has some limitations. I will post about ultra surf when I will test it
Depends on what you mean with “Safe”
- Will they be able to see where you are browsing, probably yes
- Will they protect you against drive-by-downloads, probably no
- Can they be trusted to not save your browsing history for a long time, hard to say
Can you explain a bit more what you mean with “Safe”?
I mean is it possible that they steal my Password or do harm to my PC even if I dont enter any passwords when using proxies and use a good internet security program like comodo !?
Unless you access the web sites over HTTPS yes it would be possible to capture your password
If that happens will be a matter of trust i guess
or do harm to my PC even if I dont enter any passwords when using proxies and use a good internet security program like comodo !?Well for normal web proxies where you don't have to install additional software the risks of harming your computer is just as big as browsing these sites without these proxies... I'm not aware of "free" proxy services that only exist to exploit the user... but cyber criminals will try anything so be careful when selecting your proxy.
Be sure the reason to “surf anonymous” is good enough to introduce an extra unknown security risk to your daily browsing behavior.
Personally I think the risk of stuff being captured and or logged is higher on a proxy than on my normal connection.
There’s a good discussion on it here
a nice quote
Software can do exactly what the user expects, a 1 hop proxy in this instance, and still be much more than it appears.
Just because you don’t enter any passwords, it don’t mean your safe. Your computer can be used as a botnet, used to attack or hack other computers <----any hacker would rather use your computer then there own to carry out illegal doings :o
I'm not aware of "free" proxy services that only exist to exploit the userRonny, think of high school students that will try any proxy to get around there schools internet filters so they can do things like to play online games or go to facebook.com. The problems come up when there credentials get stolen and then gets sold in bulk or to use them themselves.
Correct, forgot about those web-proxies/proxy evasion sites.
Those can be very dangerous.
Thanks for helping me refresh my memory :-TU
so there is no way to unblock internet free without dangers am I right ?
so there is no way to unblock internet free without dangers am I rightSince you said the word free, Let's ignore the paid ones. I would use one from a reputable company (Like one that you've heard of before). The free ones have a ad or ads and are generally slow. The only ones I've heared of are "Hot Spot", "Comodo Trustconnect" , "Tor"

(Whether the administrator does anything about it, that's up for grabs) But, If it cause damage to the network or computer, it's going to cost YOU money to repair the damage you caused
thx for ur info jay2007tech
I need to find out more about Hotspot, Tor and Commodo Trustconnect
anybody else using them ?
what is your idea ?
I need to find out more about Hotspot, Tor and Commodo Trustconnect
About tor, extremely secure, but it does have limitations (they even tell you on there webpage), it’s opensource, about as secure as it’s going to get for FREE. The only drawback, It can be very insanely slow.
About hotspot, it does have ads and is very slow.
About comodo trustconnect, it only has 1 ad, the speed is capped at 75-80kbps
All three are very secure methods from reliable places. Since it’s free it all comes down to how many ads and the speed
what about JonDo ?
what about JonDo ?I'll assume you mean "■■■". I forgot about that. It's like "Tor", but works differently. It is also very slow. All the progarms work very effectively , but the only people you can't hide against is the U.S.A. government. :o
again thx for your info
Currently I am in Turkey and sites like youtube are blocked here so I cant follow and see a lot of videos about things happening in my country Iran, and my PC’s safety is so important to me,
what is your suggestion for a safe way to view youtube ?
sites like youtube are blockedSo it basicly comes down to speed because it uses a fair amount of bandwith (and security of course).
I would try “comodo trustconnect” I know the speed is capped at 80kb’s (Wether you’ll get that high depends on your isp and other things
also try
https://xerobank.com/download/ <—pick the free one, while secure. I don’t know how fast it is, but I can’t picture it being slower then “■■■” or “TOR”
========================================================
Try both, with ever is faster, use that one , That’s the best I can tell you because I don’t live in a country that blocks websites
thx for your help
TrustConnect is great
I have a question why people use all that other unknown and mostly dangerous proxies when there are safe and good softwares like TrustConnect from Comodo on the web ?
and I have small problem with TrustConnect
