Application configured as blocked, not blocked by Comodo Firewall

I have configured EssentialPIM, a calendar program, tasks, notes and email, as blocked application (I do not use the email function). From version 7.50 EssentialPIM free has an annoying nag screen, so I decided to block the Internet access using Comodo Firewall, trying not to see the nag screen anytime I open the program.

But the nag screen was still popping up, so I set up my email account for use with EssentialPIM and check if Comodo Firewall was actually blocking the internet access.

What happened ? EssentialPIM seamlessly accesses the Internet, and download emails, even though Comodo Firewall is configured to block it from accessing the Internet.

b. Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?
If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened

Yes, i can reproduce the problem. I delete EseentialPIM from the list of applications, i I put it back as blocked, accept the changes, and Comodo Firewall still don´t block it.

Not so reliably.I tried three times, one time the block worked, the other two not.

c. If a software compatibility problem have you tried the advice to make programs work with CIS?

Yes, the software is not sandboxed (Checked in the window of sandboxed programs and in the Comodo log)

d. Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version

EseentialPIM 7.51

e. Exact CIS version & configuration

Comodo Firewall - Proactive security

f. Modules enabled & level. D+/HIPS, Autosandbox/BBlocker, Firewall, & AV[

Firewall safe mode
Auto Containment enable
HIPS disable
Viruscope enable

g. Have you made any other changes to the default config?

The only changes to the default settings were
. In Advanced Firewall options, where i check all 5 options: ipv6 traffic filter, loop traffic filter, block fragmented IP traffic, etc.
. Define apps as trusted.
. User interface: unchecked “Show messages of Comodo Messages Center”, unchecked “Show Desktop widget”
. In Firewall unchecked animation effects

  • In “Detect shellcode injections” i excluded the Avast folder

h. Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 5, 6 or 7?

No, updated from previous 10.xx version

i. Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS

i.OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, V.Machine

Windows 7 SP1 32 bits, UAC default level, administrator account, Virtual Machine no.

j. Other security/s’box software a) currently installed b) installed since OS, including initial trial security software included with system

Avast Antivirus free, Sandboxie, Malwarebytes Antimalware free (Not resident).

The more security software installed the greater the chance of interference and incompatibility. I tried and was able to block Internet access using the firewall application rule to block the executable. No emails were received and the nag screen which is retrieved over TCP port 443 was not shown.

Uninstalled Avast and the issue is solved.
