Application Agent Stopped Running

All of a sudden Application Agent stopped running. I uninstalled and reinstalled the firewall and everything is working fine, but can anyone explain why this problem developed? I’m running Vista Home Premium 64, Avast AntiVirus, and Spyware Terminator. The firewall has played well with these security applications in the past.

It could have been an update problem (some people have reported errors when using the internal updater).
