Application Agent Not Running

A couple of days ago I noticed that the Comodo shield was missing. I re-started CIS but now a red “no” symbol is on the shield. I opened the summary page and found the application agent was not running. I tried the diagnostics but it could not repair the application.

I have attached the diagnostic report. Hopefully there is an easy repair.

Thank You in advance…ed

I would like to suggest to uninstall and reinstall CIS and see if that brings any solace. Remeber to export your configuration before you do so.

After the uninstal and reboot run this clean up tool: https://forums.comodo.com/install_setup_configuration_help/cleanup_tool_for_comodo_internet_security-t36499.0.html;msg259617#msg259617 . Reboot and install and see what happens.

What should the exported configuration file type be?
The save as type is: “All Files (.)”
Thank You…ed

It works without extension. You can use *.cfg for extension if you want. Since recently the back up profile CIS uses are stored with this *.cfg extension. Make sure you save the configuration in a folder that is not part of the CIS installation folders; that is to make sure it is not deleted in the uninstall process.

Un-installed CIS, restarted, ran cleanup, restarted, installed latest CIS, restarted.

Still have the same problem.

O.K. Whats Next??

Thank You,ed

What other security programs do you have running in the background? Try disabling them. When that doesn’t help try the following.

We are gonna take a look to see if there are some old drivers of your previously uninstalled security programs are still around. Go to Device Manager → View → show hidden devices → now look under Non Plug and Play drivers → when you see a driver that belongs to your previous security programs click right → uninstall —> do this for all drivers → reboot your computer.

When the problem persists make sure there are noauto starts from your previous security programs download Autoruns and run it.

This program finds about all auto starts in Windows. This tool can therefore seriously damage Windows when not handled properly. After starting go to Options and choose to hide Windows and Microsoft entries and then push F5 to refresh.

Now check all entries to see if there are references to your previous security program. When you find them untick them. After unticking reboot your computer and see what happens.
