Any way to revert to older version of CIS (ver 4?)

I made the mistake of updating to CIS 5.12.256249.2599 awhile back and have had a lot of page loading problems. With CIS off, pages just load in a second. With CIS on, pages can take 30 seconds, 5 minutes or “Webpage is not responding” to which I have to press the restore button for the page to retry to load. I have to pull the battery out of my laptop daily because my computer freezes.

Seems to be a huge resource hog compared to the previous version I had.

I see that ver6 is available but looks like cpu usage is still an issue. So can I get an older version of CIS? I think it was ver4, whatever was out around 2010.

2010 covered a few versions but did include version 4. You can get virtually all earlier versions - as well as the most recent - from:

Filehippo - Choose the Filehippo mirror otherwise you’ll get the most recent version.

Or Fileehorse - Select from the dropdown list.

Does this happen with all browsers that you use or only with specific ones?

Try cleaning your browser’s cache and restart your browser to make sure browser cache is not interfering.

Make sure that left overs of previously installed security programs are no longer around by removing possible left overs with cleanup tools of those programs. Leftovers can cause all sort of strange results A list of such tools can be found here: ESET Knowledgebase .

I have 5.12 intallating file. is there a way to post it on forums for people who want to revert back to 5.12 if they want to.

I do not recommend to go back to v4. Both the sandbox and av are rough round the edges there.

In general v5.x outperforms v4 by leaps and bounds. There are reports that 5.10 works better than 5.12. If 5.12 gives problems even after clean installing then consider 5.10.
