i orderd a new pc, it has windows 8.1 …does cis work well on this os?

I am running Windows 8.1 and CIS 7 without any problems. You should not have any problems.

Same here, also with no problems. :-TU

Hi drensmith,
Just be sure to remove any pre-installed trial versions of security software before installing CIS.
Run the corresponding removal tools if one is available.

Kind regards.

thanks guys, yes first thing i do is dump norton/mcaffe and other bloatware

Yes they like to add quite a lot with certain brands now that is for sure.
I hope the new system treats you well.
Win 8.1 will take awhile to familiarise yourself after using previous Windows versions, but if you are like me you won’t want to go back once you do.

Good luck with the new system.

i bought wifey a dell win7 6ram, i liked hers so much i got one for me. but mine is windows 8.1 could i use her (win.7) installation disc to have win.7 on my pc without any problems?

This has got potential for many issues especially with drivers or even product activation.
Non retail versions of Windows will most likely cause issues.
I personally would avoid the idea on a newly manufactured system.
If this is a new system, please consider all negative possibilities.
I would discuss this with the retailer and the check the manufacturers website before proceeding, it may even affect/void warranties.

If it is Win 7/8 pro activation maybe possible.

May I ask why you would want to downgrade?

downgrade because i am old / grouchy and hate new things.

Windows 8.1 does grow on you, give it a chance.
Also trying a suggestion made by wasgij6 in the link below might help with things like the start menu if that is one issue for you.
Start menu reviver 2.0

:-La Give your system to your wife and you have hers.

thanks, the start button will definitely be added. i had win8 before but got rid of it because i hated the the start up screen. seemed to me win8 was created to try and include every wireless thing ever invented possible. it was also a toshiba, had great specs but never seen so much bloat ware.

I would image that you prefer the desktop view.
Select desktop view, right click Windows taskbar and select properties.
Under the navigation tab select the highlighted option in the screenshot.

Also right clicking the start button gives quite a few other useful available options.
