Antivirus engine not initiated #2

Other post locked so I had to add a new thread! Maybe this can be merged?

I have had this situation twice this year both times after a background update of the main program version.
Both times the only way to recover is full uninstall/reinstall.
OS - Win7x64 SP1
What is most irritating for me is that diagnostics shows no errors but the config export doesn’t work properly.
I have used config export at other times (for a clean install of OS etc) & it’s fine. When CiS is in this state it seems to ‘partially’ fail.
On this occasion I got part of my def+ settings, none of my AV exclusions & none of my FW settings. 88)

Would be nice if it could all be fixed.

Which thread is locked?

I reopened it.

As I started this thread I’ll keep going here, unless someone wants to merge with the threads.

I assume CIS has attempted a def update today as I am back to engine not initiated.

Any ideas on how to track what is failing? Reinstalling every time is going to be really annoying…

Does reinstalling following Chiron’s guide help here?

I have been following Chirons advice.
Only way I can recover AV function is uninstall/reinstall & the export config doesn’t work when CIS is in this state.
It’s not very convenient to need this for an update.
Guess I have to make config backups between updates…

When the problem persists after following Chiron’s guide and ran removal tools of security programs used in the past then I say we are looking at a bug.

If you have the time and energy please consider filing a bug report in the Bug Reports - CIS board following the format as described in FORMAT & GUIDE - just COPY/PASTE it!.

Reporting of bugs is strictly moderated to make sure Comodo gets clear bug reports. So, please make sure you closely follow protocol. That way your report will certainly be seen by Comodo staff.

Sorry for delay in response. Time has been a bit short. I will try & submit the report requested asap.
Thanks for the feedback.
