AntiVirus 5.4.189822.1355 Hangs and Crashes when scanning archives[Issue Report]

Happens on Manual Scan, Happens on Scheduled Scan
Free version, different files each time

Event Viewer information:

On Scheduled scan, I got
cmdagent.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x02d8446f.

On manual scan I got
2:26.42 PM cmdagent.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x02d2446f.

Error 3:19.47PM The COMODO Internet Security Helper Service service terminated unexpectedly.

Manually scanned files that hung individually and they scan fine.

Also, after rebooting, the system is very slow and cmdagent agent seems to hog CPU resources

Potential issues: Not using COMODO firewall, have been happy with Zone Alarm 8.0.298.000 and don’t want to have new firewall have to relearn all settings

  1. What you did:

Uninstalled Symantec Antivirus 9.0 since it no longer provides updates
Uninstalled Lavasoft Ad Aware and ran Autoruns to “get it all”

  1. What actually happened or you actually saw:
Manual scan - hung three times on different archive files

Most recent:
2:26.42 PM cmdagent.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x02d2446f.

Error 3:19.47PM The COMODO Internet Security Helper Service service terminated unexpectedly.

  1. What you expected to happen or see: Expected it to complete

  2. How you tried to fix it & what happened:

Tried running with archives scans disabled and it ran through

Tried running scheduled scan with archive scans and got
cmdagent.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x02d8446f.

It hung on a random .zip file.

I manually scanned that file after enabling archives, and it was fine.

  1. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes here?:

not sure what that means
6. Details & exact version of any application (execpt CIS) involved with download link:
not sure what that means

  1. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen:

it eventually hangs on any full scan when archives are enabled

  1. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
Also, after rebooting, the system is very slow and cmdagent agent seems to hog CPU resources

Potential issues: Not using COMODO firewall, have been happy with Zone Alarm 8.0.298.000 and don’t want to have new firewall have to relearn all settings

I’ll give it a few days hoping for some response, but I really need a bug free virus scanner
