Anti-Virus Challenge

An beta product should not be here in the list it’s not fair, it’s true that CAVS 2.0 beta is still in beta and the detection database is poor and thats in the beginning also reported so wait for 3.0 i believe this will beat many successors in the top 10. For now i do not trust CAVS 2.0 because a lot of trojans, malware and other shit was not detected and the list here is outdated so i do not trust always reviews and rankings it just concerns me except the firewall.

Come on, I know it is not perfect, but you should not call it a malware (lol).

Ok, seriously, I liked I lot to see the firewall’s challenge, but I had never found an AV challenge… I will keep an eye on Comodo AV’s score, since I want to become fully Comodized as soon as it scores higher than my current AV.

Jabbit what i will say is don’t believe every test you see, don’t believe every ranking you see test it self, i test every firewall and every antivirus with an trial period for 15 or 30 days and i do this because test review bla says this, test review bla bla say this and every time i am fucking surprised that the results in many ways are not correct.

Comodo antivirus is beta software it is not intendant for commercial use or in an working/private environment but just for testing and improving.

I have written to the people of the big antivirus challenge and they have already confirmed it’s not fair to test an
beta antivirus but it’s interesting how to see an performance is of an beta product.

I believe that CAVS 3 is a new comer in the top ten or 5 i use now avira premium with a detection of 1.5 millions malware including viruses and all other type of malware, so if cavs 3.0 coming out i will try it but today a lot of malware is launched.

I saw your quote but Norton on number one no way i have test it and at least 16 malwares not detected, i have running Avira Premium and 14 catches, the other 2 are detected by A-Squared Anti Malware.

Mine advice lets wait for Cavs 3.0 removed your paid software and test it for an week and then run your antivirus or antimalware and see of Cavs has done his job with flying colors and yes people must send samples to comodo working together is better then barking on an distance and doing nothing.

lol I think it might be better to use some sort of AV instead of disabling the windows alerts. Any AV.

Seriously, AVG, Avast, something. Avira. Some kinda AV.

Give Comodo 12 months and we will be on top.

The new Comodo Automated Malware Analysis System (CAMAS) Where Users submit files through Adds so much to detection.

Example: Comodo put 30,000 files through CAMAS, and 109 new malware were found that NO ONE detects, And it has been added to the CAV3 Database!

The power Of CAMAS is SOOOOO BLOODY GOOD! & Then you got AV Researchers around the world searching for more malware. CAMAS is something no company has!

Cheers,
Josh

That sounds nice ^^

Camas in spanish means beds. You’re going to put the viruses to sleep? Just kidding ;D

No it’s gonna kill them. (but they used the word sleep not to scare them too much) ;D There is another meaning, but it’s dirty ;D I like COMODOS sense of humour

You will see when it’s released… It’s great, detected one with it what just came out clean on http://virusscan.jotti.org/

I have confidence in the Comodo team to make CAVS the #1 in the market for proactive detection, removal, resource usage, self-protection and false positives. Posts from Comodo staff warn that this achievement may take a year after CAVS 3 is released.

I thought I would share sites I found that perform objective comparisons between AVS products. Based on the tests I found from 2008 below, and considering all performance aspects above, Avira AntiVir Premium looks to be #1 at present. Next to each link, I list the test date and tested version of Avira AntiVir Premium, which is currently at v8.1. Note that the free Avira AntiVir Personal doesn’t protect against spyware and adware, but it has the same performance for viruses and rootkits as Avira AntiVir Premium.

I look forward to see CAVS 3 compete in these tests. Until then, I need to maintain good security, so I’ll be using Avira AntiVir Premium with other Comodo products (CFP, CMF, BOClean).

Avira really gets busy when it comes to protecting your computer, I tried threat fire but didn’t like it.
Comodo Firewall Pro Memory Firewall and BOClean… (:CLP)

Personally,
ANY AV that can’t hit at least 90%, isn’t really worth much.

Definitely hoping the next version of this thing is better than this version. Can’t believe it ranks even worse than Clamwin!!

Really can’t believe the new version isn’t out yet, if they are FOCUSING on it’s developement?! Doesn’t really appear to be much focusing going on around here. Can’t even get a fairly recent update as to what that status is now.

NORTON is no Good (:TNG) (:TNG) (:TNG) LOL!

I would like to mention something I asked Melih when he gave us Mods CIS Today.

Q:

Basically the only thing you need to work on is Detection of malware Melih (Am I right?)… Because you already built a Great AV just need those definition #s to go up!

A:

2 things
Detection
and the speed of sig dissemeniation.

Both infrastructures are almost there…

For the detection, the engine will receive some very important features hopefully within number of weeks (that will pretty much handle any packed/encrypted virus).

And the speed if sig is being handled by an amazing infrastructure we setup (that includes CAMAS) and 24/7/365 AV labs we have setup around the world! Now, don’t hold me to it but i want to achieve the sig creation within 1 hour of us being given a malware (or potential malware)!

So if you give me a potentially malicious file now, you should in theory see it as a sig in your AV within the hour! This is unheard of in the industry! But then again, nothing i am doing could be considered standard Smiley So that is what I am trying to achieve!

And we will detect, at some stage, more than others cos we will have more files being submitted to us than other AVs cos we will have more users than them due to free nature of our product! Plus we will be putting a similar technology to CAMAS into CIS to identify a lot of suspicious files so that users can send them to us. Also don’t forget we have a site inspection technology that will scan sites and catch stuff there too. So I think its fair to say that we will be the company who will have more malware in our db than anyone else (live malware… not from 1980s etc).

Yes, today i played with our Site Inspection technology… and fallen in love!!! Love

Melih

Josh

That sounds great!

Thanks.

Motorcycles “Yes” Anti-Spyware “No”…

From my limited experience it will foul with the nuts and bolts of your computer

another avira + comodo user here eagerly awaiting cav3’s release (and third-party tests).

btw, while avira is a great virus scanner (current best all-around, by my standards, hence my use of it), they didn’t start out on top. Check out the second graph on this thread on the av-comparatives forum. it shows how far avira came in a relatively short amount of time. as melih and the crew have lots of drive and talent, i hope and even expect that the one-year mark will see cav3 place them firmly in the top 5.

i’m also hoping that in that time, testers will figure out that there’s more than just detection when it comes to defeating malware. secunia got a lot of flack for their recent test av test using exploits vice viruses (see here), but i like this type of approach to testing, even if it wasn’t carried out properly. i’d love to see all kinds of bad stuff thrown at suites to see how secure they really make the end user. that’s one test in which comodo would certainly excel, esp. if cav3 meets our expectations

Hey mate, Comodo Internet Security is out now, So you may install that if you want  Either Firewall+Defense+Cavs3, Or 1 or the other.

thanks, kyle, for pointing that out. what i meant to say was cav3 release and subsequent tests by major av testers (updated post to reflect this). while i know not everyone goes for third party av testers, i like what i’ve seen from av-comparatives and a few others. it doesn’t give a full story, but it gives the part that i can’t test myself, i.e. detection rates. i know how strong d+ is, but i also want my second line of defense to be top pick.

You’re welcome

For sure, Melih has avery high standards and will not settle for anything less than the best.
When detections raise cavs will be placed in tests.
