plz help- I’ve been using CRC for quite a while now and have never had a problem, but for some reason now I keep getting an error when scanning Com and ActiveX entries-Specifically this key :
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73 (apparently Avi file handler)
tho I regularly check for updates via misc tab, I was not aware that .38 version was out (think my old version was .23 or .27, not sure, but the option to check for updates was still there-working or not)
I checked the diagnostic function as well, no problem indicated, but I noticed after reading a few posts today that I did not have a listing for “crcnat.exe”, only crc.exe and crc.dat.
Checking the site here I found the latest release and installed that. same error occured. As with old version, scan completes fine if I uncheck com and activex.
was kinda disappointed that there are not the update and diagnostic functions in the new version, nor does current key scanning show while running. that is how I know what key is causing the error.
So really I have two problems I guess, the error itself, and also how can I get the old version back?
Please uninstall CSC and do a clean install of .38. Unfortunately that is the only way to go with this version.
I changed the all capital title to the same title with only appropriate capital letters used. Using all capitals is shouting. Please don’t shout it is impolite and against forum policy.
Since the .23 version, there have been a lot of structural changes made to Comodo System Cleaner and, as EricJH previously said, the most recommended way in your case is to uninstall .23 and clean install .38 which had no problems reported caused by scanning/cleaning Com and ActiveX. So that happens due to the .23 version. You said you wanted to get the old version back but I strongly advice you to use the latest if you want proper and reliable functionality. As for current key scanning, diagnostics and update functions, I assure you they are all in the latest version ( screenshots attached ). Please let me know if you managed to get it work properly.
