Alps touch pad (pointing device) security allerts really frazzle me!

My first post here and apologies if I post in the wrong forum but could you pls advise me on something;

I have an Alps touch pad on my laptop/windows 7. I’ve downloaded the latest driver update from hp. My newly installed Commodo firewall, at startup, is warning me of the following:

ApMsgFwd.exe wants to connect, something about Global hook and a Apoint.dll.

at the very same time the following allert;

Sychost.exe is about to receive an internet connection from another computer …

I know that both ApMsgFwd.exe and Apoint.dll are part of the Alps device but why do they appear at every logon and why does my touchpad need a connection to the net every time ???

To make this (for me at least) more strange, I have a button just above the touchpad which disables the pad if needed. If I deny both the requests above access to the net through Commodo, this button doesn’t work. If I grant the first request (ApMsgFwd.exe … global hook etc.) but not the second one ie. Sychost.exe (or both) it works fine. - Why does my touchpad need a connection to function properly??

Many thanks for your help
