AIM File Transfers?

Does anyone know how to set Comodo Firewall to allow sending of files? I have to Disable my Firewall each time to send a file. When receiving it’s fine though. I’m using Pidgin as my AIM/MSN client.

Application rule for Pidgin above and Global Rules below.

Hello, Blizziestorm.

Does pidgin.exe work properly if you set it as trusted application and remove all block entries in global rules?
First of all check this.

Yes it works if I add it as trusted and there’s no block entries in global. How would I go about configuring it now?

Set for pidgin.exe predefined policy outgoing only. Add global rule block/ip/in/any/any/any and move it to the end of the list (like on your screenshot).

Clear the CFP’s log. Try to send/receive files with pidgin. It’ll fail. Now there are new entries in the log. Make screenshot of them, edit it to blank out your IP address, but leave any other IP addresses. Post it here.

How do I set it as a Predefined Policy? I went there but I didn’t know how to set it.

network security policy->pidgin.exe->edit->use a predefined policy->outgoing only

then:

Here’s the screenshot of the log.

Edit:

Tried sending to more people so you’d have more results to work with.

Ok, let’s try to remove any global block rules except this one: block/icmp/in/any/any/echo request
For pidgin.exe leave outgoing only. What are results?

Without the “Block And Log IP From IP Any To IP Any Where Protocol Is Any” is sends fine. With it, it gets blocked.

What is direction in this rule In and/or Out?

Are you behind a router?

Blocking all IP In only. As my last rule.

And Yes I have a router. D-Link DI-524

Let’s check something, if you don’t mind:
start->run->cmd->type in ipconfig->enter. Don’t close command prompt.
Then procceed to this site, there will be shown IP-address (“you are coming from IP address…”). Does it match to that one (or ones) in command prompt?

Then, another check: delete all global rules, after that run stealth ports wizard->block all incoming…
Pidgin is set as outgoing only.
Can pidgin send files in this case?

Yes the IP are the same.

And no it does not work. It only sends if there is no Global Rule with Block all IP In as the last rule. There needs to be a rule above that to allow Pidgin to send out… Hm.

If it’s too much work, I might as well disable Comodo while I send files outbound. It’ll just be like 4 minutes with the firewall down. I’ll still have my router firewall.

I suggest you to leave one global block rule at the top of the list: block/icmp/in/any/any/echo request. With it pidgin would work fine and there would be no reason to disable firewall.

Are you using the NVIDIA firewall by any incident? Disable it because it is known to cause havock.

Still doesn’t work if I move that block rule for ICMP to the top.

No. Removed that thing that came with the video card.
