About security related products...

I know just as much as all of you guys reading this now do that I’m not really one to complain, but really I’m just rather getting tired of having to read comments about this and that letting a virus in a pc.

With all due respect, we all know nothing gives a hundred percent protection from viruses, not even close to 99.9%. It’s rather difficult for me to understand why persons knowledgeable enough to know this complain that this particular product isn’t good enough. Yeah, I can let it pass if it’s regularly causing problems for the user, but to be so stalwart about it saying that it isn’t any good at all, well, that’s another issue (take Threatfire and Norton for example). Recommend but don’t ruin names. Attack the marketing strategy, not the product.

Yeah, sure they didn’t do well for you, but apparently it did for some or maybe even more, only that they are unspoken. Why else would they be praised and used? The problem, I believe is not that of sheer ignorance, but the lack of initiative on the part of the unaware and the aware. I mean, people of knowledge would make comments that are implicitly offending, however subtle it is or minor to the person. Isn’t it already common sense that if a person had asked this, then there is obviously a gap in his knowledge? and instead of overly exaggerated posts that merely highlights the so-called ignorance of the inquirer, why not just go on and answer the question to fill the gap? Very discouraging on the part of those “ignorant”, myself included to post, let alone join these kinds of forums.
