Hi guys,
When using Comodo, I have the following problem. When I open Firefox and try to load a page, I frequently receive “Page Not Found” errors. Simply refreshing tends to open the page ok. Similar problems happen with email, whereby connections frequently fail - and simply trying again does the trick.
I’m using all default settings, with auto-learn etc enabled. I’ve “allowed” Firefox and Thunderbird when asked by the firewall.
Hi,
Yes the same problem happens when set to “Allow All”. I’m currently using Beta 2.4.9.126 - but only since yesterday, when I was using the release version. I upgraded to the beta in the hope it would solve my issue, but it’s exactly the same.
As the problem happens when CFPs Security Level set to Allow All, this indicates that the problem might not be with CFP at all. As on Allow All CFP should not interferer with any network traffic. It might be that your ISPs Domain Named Servers (DNS) are intermittently rejecting requests, I often suffer from this with my ISP. A way to check this is to run a program called NSLOOKUP.EXE which you should find in your SYSTEM32 directory. It’s a DOS app, so you will need to run it from a Command Prompt window. NSLOOKUP checks your primary/secondary DNS connectivity. If your ISPs DNS is flaky, then NSLOOKUP will periodically fail with a time-out or be forced to use the secondary DNS. Intermittent DNS problems can cause Server/Page Not Found errors in browsers.
You’ll need to exclude this possibility anyway, since if you reported this problem to Comodo Support they are likely to say the same thing.
