a fix for the update issue from Comodo Support, it worked for me :)

I suggest you to reset the internet explorer also try resetting the proxy in registry which can fix this problem,

Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
Reopen Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. ...
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.

Please click start > type Regedit on search or run > open the Registry

To solve the problem you’ll have to copy the value data stored here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\DefaultConnectionSettings

Open ‘Default Connection Settings’ RightClick Select all and Copy ‘Value Data’ Click ok to close

You have to Replace the copied data on the below location:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\DefaultConnectionSettings

Open ‘Default Connection Settings’ RightClick Select all and paste ‘Value Data’ Click ok to close

Restart the computer then try to update the Comodo Antivirus or Internet Security

Or You can download and manually update the product using the following link:

  1. Open explorer and go to C:\Program files\comodo\comodo internet security\scanners
  2. Rename existing bases.cav to bases.old
  3. Copied the downloaded bases.cav to the folder… COMODO/COMODO Internet Security/ Scanners folder , which is under program files.
  4. Restarted the PC and restarted the virus signature update from Comodo Antivirus or Internet Security interface

You forgot the \Connections on the copy line.

This is a work around for several popular programs actually. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. But it should work with CIS and is a simple quick fix. Just remember it however, because this is an application specific bug that Comodo has to fix. It’s more of a MS thing, but they missed it.
