Defragment CTM protected partitions with windows defrag is meaningless, because we manage disk space by ourself. We disable windows defrag in 2.8 release.

Regards
Haibo
Can You offer (maybe internally) version 2.8 without defrag disable, regardless how silly sounds to you.

Sorry, we do not.
If enable defrag feature, the internal data of CTM could be destroyed.

Best Regards.

The 178 version did NOT correct the 175 beta error while compacting snapshots.
When the routine finds an earlier snapshot, it stops.
It was reported before here in forums and you've promised it would have been addressed.

In order to provide a stable release, we only fix some critical bugs in 178 compared with 175. We will merge the bugfixs into future release. ;)

Hi,

I'm new here in the forum and this is my first post.

My English is very bad, I'm from Germany and use an automatic translator to post here. Sorry. I would like to make a positive feedback.

CTM 2.6 and 2.8, I have successfully installed in a virtual Mashine (Virtual Box and XP/SP3, with 10 GB virtual hard drive, which used 5 GB.)

CTM 2.6 I could also easily uninstall.

The software funktoniert in my stable, fast and easy. to create snapshots only takes one to two seconds, and the restoration of a reboot done in minutes.

CTM should one day achieve the stable performance of software such as Roll Back RX, I would like to use it on my real PC. At the moment I see it as of yet.

Thanks in any case for this Freeeware that allows, in my opinion a whole new dimension of dealing with a PC.

Greetings from Germany

4ever

Note
Upgrade is not supported in this release:
1. Users can not upgrade CTM from previous releases to this release.
2. Users can not upgrade CTM from this releases to future release.

I've CTM 2.6 installed on my windows 7. My CTM is set to protect only C:\ drive which is my system drive. As i want to upgrade my CTM to version 2.8; if i format my C:\ drive and re-install a fresh copy of windows 7, will my important documents in other drives be affected? I want a fresh install of windows 7 so that i can defrag my system drive before installing CTM 2.8 . Again i mostly use portable programs which is stored in a different drive other than C:\ drive.
Any help will be appreciated.

Yes and no.
Yes if you're talking about any document in the CTM protected partition. Then you need to uninstall CTM and set the current system as the restored state.
No if you're talking about files in another partition, non protected by CTM and you won't reformat it.

No i'm not talking about any documents in the CTM protected partition(system drive); i'm going to format the CTM protected partition and reinstall a fresh copy of CTM in it. As my system drive contains only OS; i'm not concerned about it. But as i learned CTM change the MBR; so if i reinstall(clean) my OS in the system drive(only which is protected by CTM) will my other drives(none are protected by CTM) be affected?

Uninstall CTM first. Then you'll restore the default MBR.
Then format/reinstall Windows (keeping the other partitions).
