In short:
1) As sniffer shows, SearchUI.exe sends any typed keystrokes to Microsoft (even with both Cortana and Bing are turned off), but can work in standalone mode too with internet unplugged.
2) COMODO silently blocks SearchUI.exe in Safe Mode, without asking or placing it to Application Rules, moreover, makes it unable to work in standalone mode despite changing all COMODO settings afterwards when such blocking happens once, until reboot or manual killing/starting SearchUI.exe. Double fault.
3) Of course manual entering allowing rule helps, but it is just workaround. What app will be broken next in similar way?

P.S. Now I use standard Windows Firewall outgoing blocking rule to not send keys to Microsoft. This way does not damage taskbar search.

Edit: "worked for me"
Make sure that Searchui.exe in C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana is allowed to connect out,
(Cortana off)
If i block access out for searchui.exe with CIS FW then the local search result stoped working for me.

Additionally Searchui.exe/cortana have high cpu usage on my weak laptop since it trys to call home and cant, so had to stop it from starting with HIPS.

This worked.  It resolved my search issues. I used the Ruleset: Outgoing Only

Edit: I solved the issue with Revo Uninstaller Pro software. Thanks for new release of CIS by the way.

You include additional software in CIS installer that I/Many users dont like...And on top of that additional software are not latest version.

This latest CIS version released couple days back...And Chromodo is not the latest but previous version...Chromodo should be the latest version.

About Windows 10 and CIS quirks: it's probably because W10 is constantly patched on weekly basis (seems like it), so the CIS devs might be forced to push another update (I hope) ;)

For Anyone that is interested.

I Blocked SearchUI.exe In & Out with Comodo Firewall, Then I installed Classic Shell
4.2.4 I have mine set to Win 7 Look... I tried the search from the Start Menu & I can
confirm that it does not need any Internet Access...They did a great job.

Cortana SearchUIexe also uses the Https port 443 to  Phone home.

Hi yessnooo,
I guess Chromodo was easily missed while the concentration was specifically aimed at the hotfix for Win 10.

Thanks.

....I can download & install Firefox any time. ;)
Hi Cavct,
Please stay on topic, this topic has nothing to do with alternative software.

Thanks.

Hi, since updating CIS to version 8.2.0.4674 it still gives me new program version is available at every update check. Are others also experiencing this behavior?  I'm on Windows 7.

I have seen this only once on Win 8.1 x64. It said there was an update and briefly downloaded something.  It was too fast to see what it was downloading.

Hi white31,
Does checking under tasks in the Comodo log viewer give any indication of what is trying to update?

Thanks.

I'm not sure which logs to look exactly, I haven't done program update second time, because it seems suspicious to me, here the pic of logs:

Hi white31,
Select tasks from the drop down menu.

I would allow it to update, it could resolve itself.

Thanks.

Right, after updating program again it doesn't show anymore, thanks, but still wondering why this happened, I have read before about fake Windows updates which was generated by some kind of malware, hope this won't happen with Comodo.
