Well, that's a bit risky. I can't always rely on assuming that some app is safe, just because I see no alerts. Anyway, I will change to custom ruleset as you suggest. Thanks.

Before I did the test with active sandbox, after I tried to disable it temporarily, but the result is the same. The HIPS is set to secure

Hi there,

I just wandered if some users got the same issue I had before trying to fill a bug report.

When I activate "enhanced protection mode" that uses VT-x, my PC freezes when I try to open a program sandboxed (I tried with word file, sandboxing it from the contextual menu).

I got a Intel core i7 2600K and Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bits.

Additional question: "enhanced protection mode" is under HIPS menu, so does it still opens automatically unknown programs sandboxed (and using VT-x technology) when I disable HIPS ?

In CIS 7 I liked a lot not to be bothered with popups for every unknown program actions (e.g. when I needed it just once, but not only for this case) with just automatically sandboxing them (and still having EPM on).

Since it seems to be changed it a bit in CIS 8, even if it's probably just a UI thing, I'm a bit confused. A little clarification will be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks!

lyn it seems to be a problem on your installation. try to unninstall cis 8, reboot the computer, clean all with ccleaner, reboot again, go into your profile folder and delet the comodo folder that you will find somewhere there, then install cis 8. cancel the automatic update, download the bases updated file and import it. reboot your computer and now let cis do the automatic update and the automatic first scan. now post your feelings for us, please?

it seems like a very random bug. I have tested with the same unpacker in the same environment (win 7 x64) with different results each time.

Few problem with this version.

Using Win 8.1 x64

1) Auto-Sandbox disable - Windows Action Centre will say "Comodo Defense+" status will be "Off"
2) Comodo create 3 startup menu call "CisD81B" which contains the following: "Conhost", "Windows Command Process", "CisD81B". What are these? Are they meant to be deleted after the installation? Necessary to use Comodo 8?
3) Not sure if I'm remember it correctly but Viruscope v7 show internet connection. "cmdagent.exe" popping up constantly asking for internet connection. Allowing it doesn't seem to do much, Viruscope show that it does nothing except running 3 Comodo component, blocking it probably mean Comodo Firewall's log is going to be really high after a few days.

2) The file name varies on installation. I deleted mine.

They don't fix a lot of things:

Analyst do not remove adware vendors in the TVL,
analyst do not add reported malware.. (just inform you other vendors add samples in 1-2 hour) etc.
We all know these things but some of us do not accept  :-TD
I agree with you

Totally and utterly cleaned comodo off pc! Will try a re install in the suggested manner. However is cis 8 less secure than 7 even if you use chirons guide?
Please let me know what problems you have seen when using my configuration. From what I have seen switching to Proactive causes CIS to now automatically sandbox all unknown programs, regardless of where they came from. Have you seen otherwise?

Thank you.

All seems to be ok now. Sandboxing wasn't my problem just earlier in this thread something was mentioned about proactive setting not the same as 7.

One thing I notice about the new Sandbox that I find annoying is, when the Sandbox catches a file and you click the "Don't isolate it again" in the alert box, the file is populated in the Auto-Sandbox rules list as Trusted. If you add the file to Trusted Files, it shouldn't populate the Auto-Sandbox rules list.

v8.0.0.4337 keeps telling me there's a new update, which is v8.0.0.4337. I hope this is an easy fix. Just wanted to report it, without all the red tape. Thank you.
