At this stage, it would be better to make kiosk optional during install, if you can't use another browser inside kiosk. 

As has already been mentioned several times, you can use any browser you want inside the Kiosk.

And yes, the Kiosk is an optional install. If you open the Kiosk from within the GUI, you are asked if you want to install Dragon and Silverlight if you don't already have them installed. These are required for the tablet mode of the Kiosk.

You can open the Kiosk without them from the CIS installation folder, and it will not require Dragon or Silverlight, but you are limited to classic mode and will not be able to use tablet mode. Or, as Captainsticks pointed out, if you decline installing Dragon and Silverlight, it will also open in classic mode.

Or, you can still be sandboxed and never even open the Kiosk. Just use the manual sandbox.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

There are basically two "desktops" in the Kiosk. Tablet Mode and Classic Mode.

The default mode that the Kiosk starts in is tablet mode. Tablet mode is similar to the Windows 8 Metro-style GUI. It has app tiles that you can click on to open applications, like you would using a tablet.

If you're using Dragon and Silverlight, tablet mode is going to have some apps that your PC's desktop does not have. In other words, there are more icons in the Kiosk in tablet mode than are on your PC's desktop.

If you switch to classic mode, you will see only the icons that are on your desktop, and the layout is similar to what you are used to looking at on your PC's desktop.

If you choose not to install Dragon or Silverlight, accessing the Kiosk will only show the icons on your desktop in either mode, but it still defaults to tablet mode (albeit a stripped down tablet mode) when the Kiosk is started.

I don't disagree. An application that is trying to cater to both tablets and desktops has to make usability oddities on either platform.

I would like it if the mode state could be remembered from run to run. Meaning, if you exit the Kiosk while in classic mode, the next time it starts, it will start in classic mode, even if you've reset the sandbox.
