The crash problem of AV scan module still remains! see https://forums.comodo.com/empty-t77820.0.html
Do you let the antivirus scan run during all these hours in each week? Or even on other days too? :o

Why not just scan the new things when they arrive? What do you gain with these scans?

Performance hunger/rescan and often sheduled scans are like the contrast to "antivirus as last line of defense".

I've been using Comodo for almost 3 years and over that time I've installed dozens of different versions of the Firewall and Defense+ without problems that is until today when although I thought I checked all of the right boxes in the v5.9 installer to exclude installing the Antivirus module...

the v5.9 installer went ahead and included the Antivirus anyway...

I made a second attempt to exclude the Antivirus from the installation by making sure I made what I thought were the right choices in checking only the Firewall box, but for the first time since I've been using Comodo I'm still stuck with the Antivirus being installed.

Is there a way to remove the Antivirus module with any more recent method than these 2006 instructions or should I just re-image my computer back to the v5.8 Firewall and Defense+ Only installation and hope that a version of the Comodo v5.9 installer with a truly effective Firewall and Defense+ Only option is released as once was available from Comodo...

IT should not have installed antivirus in this case. However until we understand what is going on, you can always download COMODO Firewall from http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/free-download.html

Is there a v5.9 Comodo Firewall installer available as there was for v5.8?

I'm hoping there will be one available.  At over 80M, the installer is a little large
if you just want the firewall.  The 32 bit installer in version 5.8 was about 35M.

Regards.

I'm not having a great deal of luck getting the new profile wizard working with TrustConnect, regardless if TC is already running or not.

Initially: (All default settings - firewall only)

1. Installed the firewall without TC running
2. Chose Public from the Wizard
3. Received the 'Activate TrustConnect' dialogue
4. The default browser opened to the TC sign-up page
5. As I already have an account, I chose Activate now and entered the relevant details
6. Received the 'Please Wait...' dialogue
7. After two minutes or so, received the 'Failed to establish connection...' dialogue

Maybe the Wizard should check for the installation of TC and offer to start the service if it's not already running, unless that's what the 'Activate Now' is supposed to do?

Next:

1. Restarted the PC, ran TC and let it connect
2. Received the 'New network detected...' dialogue
3. Select 'Secure Communication with TrustConnect'
4. Received the 'Please Wait...' dialogue
5. After two minutes or so, received the 'Failed to establish connection...' dialogue
6. Selecting 'Retry' just repeats the cycle
7. Selecting 'Cancel' displays the 'Activate TrustConnect' dialogue, which also repeats the cycle when completed with relevant details.

I also can't see any way to switch between profiles, apart form using separate security configurations, Maybe I'm missing something, is it simply IP based routing? It's also a shame the ability to name new networks has been removed from the wizard. Whilst I appreciate these can be re-named in Network zones, it's an additional unnecessary step.

I guess you're still not doing anything with IPv6 either, as ICMPv6 filtering continues to be broken and there's no sign of IPv6 addresses in network zones, either link local or otherwise, once the new network wizard has created a zone,

A painless transition so far; and no Geekbuddy nags!

I did a clean install, and imported settings from a 5.8 .cfgx file. Everything seems to have
transferred okay into the new version.

Good work guys!

egeman- Yes, that's the ticket!

Everything worked out just perfect and I now have the Comodo 5.9 Firewall and Defense+ installed. Thank you so much for the golden link to the Comodo Firewall Installer.

I'm using a custom ruleset. Could you please tell me if new rules have been added/removed in D+ and which ones?

Also,

Comodo AGAIN adds two scheduled antivirus scans upon updating, AND now also reverts the selected skin to default PLUS it forgets window sizing/positioning.

PLEASE have CIS remember those things during future updates!

UPDATE

CIS now also pops up an annoying question EVERY TIME you try to modify D+ program policies! I understand that these are sensitive settings but was this REALLY necessary?! At least have an option to disable the prompt!

What's New in Version 5.9?
Were the selectable color themes present in 5.8?  If they were, I never noticed them.

In any case, I like it!

Regards.
