I meant i was going to chat wiht you over MSN and understand whats going on. Can you PM me so that i can add you to MSN and we have a chat wiht you.

Hi,

PM sended.
I uninstall last version and install the previous 5.10.228257.2253 (MD5: 8ABA414B2BD3F48627D7871E6474EF21). Now it works perfect. I will not update to the 5.12 because very strange problems appears (rare connections to 255.x.x.x, 224.x.x.x, MSN messenger not works...).

Could it be a problem with the Windows 2000 compatibility mode? (my MSN messenger 7.0 is in win2k compatibility mode).
LAN PCs (with win2kSP4) now can connect to http://www.google.es. With 5.12 version can't go to http://www.google.es, BUT can connect to https://www.google.es

Hope you will solve the problems  8)

Best regards :)

I uninstall and install last version. Problem continues.
Some  strange firewall prompt appears from:
1-System -> [ff02::16] - ICMPV6
2-System -> 224.0.0.252 - IGMP
3-explorer.exe -> 169.254.255.255 - UDP nbdgram(138)
4-explorer.exe -> 169.254.255.255 - UDP nbname(137)

Same problem here. different address
1-System -> [ff02::16] - ICMPV6 only at startup
2-svchost -> [ff02::c] - ICMPV6 only at startup or when connect a new device
3-many programs at random time during day -> 224.0.0.22 IGMP

Win7 X64 no other security programs (only comodo with proactive security config)

Only a minor annoyance but any help will be appreciated

Is there any reason to update to this 5.12.256249.2599 version if you're on Windows 7? Does it patch any vulnerabilities or fix any bugs for Windows 7 users?

2+1 reasons
1. it was proposed by automatic updater
2. I wish to migrate to windows 8 then i have to install compatible version before
3. It wasn't forbidden nor not advised  :)

Only joking but i would like to undestand why this behavior and if its possible to have the same problem after migration.

Well, as a wild guess, I think you should make sure "Enable IPv6 Filtering" is unticked. Also, since its asking to go out through ports 137 and 138, make sure your NetBIOS is disabled.

I would really like to see the release notes or change log for this 5.12 version of Comodo Firewall. Were there any vulnerabilities or bugs fixed?

What's New in this release?
IMPROVED! Windows 8 Support
FIXED! PPPoE protocol driver conflicts with firewall driver in Windows 8
Nothing regarding win7 but nothing changed too, then there souldn't be problems.
To make me clear its not a criticism but i think it's not relevant to the solution; besides:

However in order to reduce the Windows 8 related support load, we decided to issue an upgrade to make all comodo users fully compatible with Windows 8.

Unticked "Enable IPv6 Filtering" -> no more [ff02::xx] alerts but every ipv6 connection pass unfiltered and my provider is on ipv6 then i prefer to have this option enabled.
I don't have 137 and 138 alerts, it was previous poster.
Remains random alerts on IGMP 224.0.022
Every time i update comodo i take a compare of previous and new config (through export before and after) to verify any change but nothing changed this time and i already have rules to enable this outboud broadcast traffic. Maybe it could be something on the logic of filter drivers that changed behaviour.
No problem if its disappear migrating to win8 (well in reality no problem also if not, only a minor annoyance as said).

I remember a while back, I enabled the IPv6 filter, just for added protection. I got those same alerts you did, even with 5.10, so I unticked it. I would just allow that traffic to go through and tick the box to remember those requests.

I've had those IGMP alerts before, with 5.10. To be on the safe side, I would block them and set it to remember that request so it doesn't pop up anymore.

I've already read the What's New, but I would prefer to have release notes and a change log. I have a feeling there was more then that updated since they are making all Windows users who could run Windows 8 update to 5.12, instead of just keeping 5.12 a Windows 8 version. So something else must have been changed besides those things.

Is there any disadvantage if you run 5.10 instead of 5.12 on a Windows 7 machine?

Big problem with 5.12 and Win 8 Enterprise X64

Installed CIS, it installed and ran fine. Re-started and got a black screen. (Windows was almost booted, I could use the Task Manager a little bit)

I did a restore, which removed CIS. Win 8 then booted fine. Rinse, repeat, same result!

Anyone else?

Thank you!
