Nothing to worry about, isn't the first time, you still get protection from auto-sandbox and D+. CIS is more than a traditional av. :)

I don't worry about it either.  Also you would get protection from the cloud assuming the problem is with generating the av updates for the local signatures.

Hi,

Can I know about how many days between bases.cav manual updates can elapse before a full database download is incurred rather than an incremental one?

I'm referring here to performing an update through the main interface, manually.

thanks,

From the web page:
Quote
The complete, downloadable database is updated approximately every 2 days so may not contain all the latest definitions as shown in the table above.

Thanks for your reply Eric. I'm sorry my question wasn't clear, though.

I do my signature updates manually, every few days, through the CIS interface (using ver 6.3). Usually the update amounts to just a couple MB in size, as an incremental routine. Once in a while, I forget to do the update for too long, and it sends me the entire 200+ MB database.

My question is, may I know at approximately how many days between my manual updates it will change from the small, 2 - 3MB incremental to the 200+MB full database?

Or perhaps after a certain period of time, it just overwrites the entire database, no matter what.

I'm just wondering if I can avoid the large download/overwrite somehow?  The small incremental routine is a beautiful technology   :D

(And regardless, CIS is a beautiful technology.  :-TU)

thanks again,

I think a new full database gets loaded somewhere around every 21+ days.; it's somewhere between 21-30 days I would say. I have seen 22 days of not updating without getting the full database.
