No one here seems to realize that some viruses stop you from getting on the internet. So if you had all signatures to the cloud and if you have a computer virus that keeps you off the internet then how do a person detect and clean their computer. The only thing that person could do is to reformat the computer. And we all know that is hard on the hard drive plus time consuming. So signatures must be able to be downloaded and kept on ones hard drive.

What about CCE?

Also if a malware on your computer has enough rights to cut off the Internet then it probably has enough rights to employ strategies to avoid detection from traditional anti-virus.

I personally think CIS should be kept like it is now, with local signatures, for those who only want the Cloud, they can use CFW.

they were all watching football/soccer world cup. :P

database being 2 days old after weekend has become somewhat normal and usually CIS/CAV fixes it by itself or after reboot but not now.

Today got a "Windows Action Center" message that Comodo is out of date. I checked for updates (is set to do this automatically of course) and says all up to date!  Been 2 days since an update. Is this a normal behavior?

I ask because I have not seen it do this before, since January when I installed Comodo.

There is no need of constantly updating COMODO if we use the Cloud Service, I believe to have been told several monts ago! :D

Yes mine updated earlier this evening. Still not sure why it tripped the Windows Action Center notification for the first time if this has happened in the past. Anyway I turned Off the notification if Comodo takes a break on the weekend again.  Thanks! :)

The problem with the Cloud protection is that CIS won't stop the execution of the items detected via Cloud which in my personal opinion makes the CloudAV rather useless and doesn't comply with Comodos general Default Deny policy.

Normal AV timeline (assuming the malware signature is in the local database):
  • Download/Try to launch a malware
  • CIS stops it from even loading
  • CIS alerts about the file / Quarantines it (depends on setting)
Cloud AV timeline (Assuming the malware signature is not in the local database but in the Cloud):
  • Download/Try to launch a malware
  • The malware is allowed to run
  • Cloud AV detects it as a malware and shows alert
  • Malware is still running
