hi egemen,

I wonder if this is just a cached data or a failed leek test:
I've opened HyperSnap;
i let it to search for updated version;
i've close it;
i've reopen it and told to search again for updates: i didn't click allow/deny (it remained active);
i've opened another HyperSnap instance which was able to show that there's a new version over the Internet;

I strongly belive that this is just a HyperSnap solution (fe. from the first check it stored that data somewhere) but i also wonder if you could ensure me :). Anyway, this data will be good for the FAQ at least  (V)

(Also, there was a - couldn't reproduce - bug with the specified "parent" (setup.exe).)

This may be  because of a couple of reasons:

1- Hypersnap may be recognized as safe and automatically approve safe apps are selected,
2- Hypersnap may be showing the cached data(this is more probable)
3- Parents of the instances are different and one is recognized as safe

Hi,

every once in a while, I like to go back and redo different leaktests. Today I tried CPIL2 and it no longer works at all. I get the following even though I'm running as admin. Any ideas what might cause this?

Do you want to proceed (Y/N)? : y

Enter the text to be transmitted : cccccccccccccccccc
Could not initiate an instance. Make sure you are running as Administrator.

Test failed.
DO NOT FORGET TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER!

Thanks, Al

With CPF beta versions, this is an expected behavior. It blocks the harmful activity.

Not only Comodo stop CPIL2. Proactive module form KAV6 also stop it.

Well, on the previous BETA, I got an alert Pop-Up to allow or disallow. Is tthe last BETA now blocking under the covers without an alert?

Thanks, Al

Hi,

I just tested with Tiny Firewall, Tiny blocks it no problem. In all fairness, Tiny is awfully stout & I would probably classify him as a little more than just a firewall, he's got some other stuff going on, but he is sold to the general public as a firewall. He alerts you to everything including application startups & registry changes. To be fair I always tell him to allow everything up to the point of the actual transmission itself, & in the end he's stopped every test I've ever thrown his way, even though if allowed to he will stop the tests before they even know they were born to cause trouble.

Currently the release versions & betas of Comodo are not passing cpil1 or pcflank for me so I'll wait untill the new release tomorrow to retest this with Comodo.

Hi All,

With the increasing amount of messages about firewall bypassing a.k.a leak techniques, I believe we must open another Board in which we formally talk about the techniques. I m sure this will be used as a reference by other firewall vendors. In that board, we will together see how easily a firewall can be bypassed although it is said to be pass known leak tests, ofcourse while having fun.

I agree... starting to get messy with all posts about leaktests...
I think that you should create a heading for each test out there, so if i'm having trouble with lets say Pcflank, then it will be easy to find it.  :o

It is already a week and I don't see any new board dedicated to the leak test.  :) Are you going to implement it, egemen? I think it would really be interesting. Comodo forums is growing by leaps and bounds.  :D

Oh I see. Nevermind then, better pour your efforts into making the firewall a great one. This forum can wait a little longer.  :)

 Yes, now to get a hold of the dreaded PCflank, just for the heck of it! Know why? I temporarily got rid of IE all together! hahahahahahah. We'll see.

 Cheers,
