Cannot export certificate from IE7 for Thunderbird
« on: April 05, 2009, 04:46:14 PM »
I cannot export a certificate in PKCS#12 format in IE7 for import into Thunderbird.

I initially applied for a Comodo Secure Email certificate using Internet Explorer, and so had to retrieve the certificate using that browser.  Thunderbird requires a certificate in PKCS#12 format, but IE7 can not export a certificate in that format.

I use Thunderbird as my email client.  (I normally use Firefox, but this was a rare time when I wasn't!)

What can I do to get the certificate in the correct format for Thunderbird?

Cheers!
Bill

Hi MonSoon,

Welcome to the forum!

The certificate ONLY needs to be installed in Internet Explorer. Thunderbird and Firefox should pick up the fact taht the certificate is installed.

Export it from Internet Explorer (Properties >>> Content >>> Certificates)
