Version number should be 276 and system idle process should no longer be in the logs.

You should uninstall again using the uninstall from Comodo folder in start menu. Then run a registry cleaner such as the one with CCleaner and also get rid of any Comodo folders in program files and documents and settings.

Remove the excluded firewall files from BOC excluder before you try installing the new version - you can add any new files later. After all this you can then try installing the latest version - hopefully it should work then, I found the install went very smoothly on my XP Pro system.

A Million Thanks NTTW.  :BNC

The nightmare appears to be over.
Uninstalled all Comodo Products and deleted Comodo folder.
RanCCcleaner and got rid of all the rubbish including Comodo entries.
Shut down Avast AV.
Reinstalled 276 and it appears to be OK.
Asked for permissions OK and correct version (276) appears in the About box.

Strange thing, no Firewall log alerts yet, normally get a lot, but perhaps this is how it's supposed to work.

I have D+ disabled at the moment.

Question; do I need BOClean and CMG with this latest version (with D+ on or off)?

With D+ disabled you are losing out on quite a lot of protection. D+ is what makes the firewall leak proof and there is a built in heuristics that can detect a high proportion of currently unknown malware.

You can still use BOC and memory guardian (note now called memory firewall, new beta available on forums) if you want, as far as I know Both work ok with the firewall.
I would strongly recommend D+ though, after the initial few pop ups it is remarkably quiet in clean pc mode or train with safe mode and the added protection is well worth the odd pop up.

Thanks again, I will try D+ later; had a lot of problems with it in the last version 268; but hopefully they have now been overcome.

Just wondered if any of the new functions of CFP 276 replaced the ones in BOClean and GMG?

Still no alerts logged which seems strange. Any ideas?

Not yet, but memory guardian features are likely to be added before long.

OK will try D+ first then add the other two.

Any ideas about getting no alerts logged yet?

Hey Mike,
this seems quite strange to me. Every 2 minutes 5 seconds I get a new "Windows Operating System" - Block - IGMP - entry.
Unfortunately I cannot come up with an explanation at this point. Did you install in safe mode? (this is supposed to not work correctly) Was your AV  / AS running during installation? ...
Cheers

Gramps,

I didn't install in Safe Mode, just Windows mode, but I did disable Avast while I did it.

Just started D+ and no major problems yet. Fingers crossed.

As to why you are getting those alerts; you need someone a lot more clever than me to explain it.

From the very first post:
"FIXED! "System Idle Process" is now changed to "Windows Operating System" to describe application less traffic (So no more "System Idle Process" in CFP)"

Any idea why I have no alerts in my Firewall log at all?

Should I be worried; every other Firewall I have used showed dozens an hour including  CFP 268.

And what's this box which keeps popping up saying I am running in Installation mode and do i want to switch back to previous mode. Wouldn't go away till I said Yes? Link on the box explaining why it was important did not work by the way.

Are you sure that all blocking rules are set to log all unmatching requests?

Not sure what you mean; where would I find those settings; I thought that alerts would be logged by default. I'm no expert on Firewalls as you can see.  :(

I'm in the same case, almost no logging of firewall events. I usually got dozens as well (my blocked rules are set to get logged). Gotta take a closer look at the new global rules, may be it's that allowing more traffic...

Mike, to make sure that your blocking rules are set to log go to Network Security Policy and watch those rules with red circles, a small black cross on them, and a small sign that looks like a letter. From what I understand you haven't edited anything so everything should be OK, corresponding to the default settings.

Go to FIREWALL > Advanced > Network Security Policy > Global Rules tab > open that one blocking rule, and check the box. If it is ticked, then I don't know what's the problem. :)
