Hi mangkaw,

quick look at the basics...

1) Is the target's firewall off?
2) Is the target's UAC disabled?
3) Is file and printer sharing enabled on the target?
4) Can you access the target's Admin$ share from the server?
5) From the target, can you telnet to port 9901 on the ESM server?
6) Please see if the following registry key
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy is set to «1»;
7) Does the ESM server user have local/domain administrative privileges on the target?

Please advise,
Michel.

Hi w-e-v,

If the ESM host can access the remote machine with permissions to upload to it and install on it then yes, you can deploy directly (of course the target machines would need to be publicly accessible through a firewall though)

It is probably more efficient to upload the offline-installer agent to CCloud and get the remote users to run the file locally though - please make sure your ESM server is publicly accessible AND that you have put the ESM server's public IP in the ESM Configuration Tool "Main Settings" > "Server Network Addresses"  before you build the offline installer.

Regards,
Michel.

Is there any documentation I can find/use before I start testing this product?

edit

Comodo's URL for this product only gives highlights.  The Data Sheet link takes the users to the resource center.

Is there any way to make domestic CIS versions manageable by cesm 3.0?

I have a non-standard 6.0 version, and a machine that cannot yet cope with 6.0, which is on 5.10 to avoid 5.12 issues.

Agents have installed fine (pushed from server). But CESM does not see the CIS 6.0 version at all, and sees  the 5.10 version but says it is not a supported version.

Best wishes

Mouse

Hi Mouse1,

Sorry but no, ESM 3 will only manage its bundled CES 6.0 anti-malware software.

CES 6 is lighter than 5.x so that should not be a problem.

How many EPs (Endpoints) are you looking to manage?

Regards,
Michel.

Hi Michel. Just two

I'm a mod trying this out on my home network so I can better support people in the forum. Also of course it makes it possible for me to manage my wife's security without needing constant access to her machine. It maybe has its value on home as well as corporate networks. Might be nice to see some version of it for home (non-business) networks in the future :), or maybe there already is. Difficult to keep up with new products sometimes :)

I will try ESM 6.0 on my wife's machine when I get a mo. Will the remote instal remove CIS 5.x automatically?

Is it free for non-commercial use after year 1?

Hi,

The license is free forever (assuming you renew it annually).

If you select the "uninstall incompatible products" during the deployment process then version 5.x will be automatically uninstalled. Note that the uninstall/install process invokes a reboot of the machine though.

Regards,
Michel.
