COMODO Vulnerability Analyzer - BETA Version 1.1.4.30 Released
« on: November 06, 2008, 06:53:08 PM »
Hi Everyone,
We have made updates for CVA live today, which has following changes:

1. When CVA prompts to upload information of the products it does not recognize, it lets you select the products to submit as you may not want all products listed in that to be submitted.

2. In Vista OS there were cases where when if UAC enabled, it could crash

Here are the setup details:

I just ran it again....and this time it didn't show me anything...no report, no products...Nothing.

The 1st time i ran it....it said it made a report of unrecognized products to send to comodo...I didnt see any products but I did send it to comodo anyway.

Sorry but maybe some one else will have this same problem!

Hi gismo999,
please have a look at enclosed image, in case it finds any products which CVA doesn't recognize it brings up a dialog like shown in the image. When you click on "Please click here to view the report", it expands and shows products.
Just wondering if you clicked on it and saw a blank view?

Btw once you send the report it won't show that report again unless it finds any new product it doesn't recognizes.

Thanks

It crashed again for me the same as here

https://forums.comodo.com/comodo_vulnerability_analyzer/comodo_vulnerability_analyzer_version_11329_beta_bug_reports-t26564.0.html;msg193698#msg193698

I took off my drive "E" from the search and it didn't crash but still scanned the E-drive as well as C-drive.

I will continue to try it and report back.

CIS -3.5, BOClean, XP-Home 32 bit.

Hi John,

I saw ur post in the given above link in which  u have selected "Scan all drives" which means it doesn't care about wat u have or removed in "My Search Paths"

Note : If u have excluded the "E:\" drive in "My excluded paths" then it will excluded from scan if u opted to scan by "scan all drive"

Naturally "Scan Std folders" will scan for Os folders and application installation folders

And one more thing i have tried same scenario it works just fine for me

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Gismo,

I tried the same thing, here  CVA shows the message as "Preparing unrecog report" at the time of completion of the scan but if u r system doesn't have any such products then CVA just search for unrecog products at that time it will say "Preparing scan report" in the status bar of CVA. Iif it doesn't have anything then it will not show anything

But It shows the dialog box as posted by umesh in this thread and doesn't show any product in that after the completion then it's a bug pls report that

Actually wat u have reported has a minor bug i think so ---I mean when it searching for unrecog report it has to say "searching unrecog reports"  instead it shows like "Preparing scan report" in the status bar of CVA ( Minor Gui bug)  ;)

Running Vista Normal User, Updater gives a nice message about not being run as Administrator so i ran as administrator. Updates fine, wants to reboot after finish. I rebooted.

Starts fine, i find "generate unknown products report" unticked in settings, i enabled it.

Scan's fine, takes all my CPU 100% while scanning for apps, not while scanning for Windows Updates.

Undetected Report, unticked a few apps, can the window be made Resizeable ? now it's to small.
Uploaded to the FTP Server without trouble.

So far so good :-))

for the crash guy's please check you eventlogs, crash message could be recorded there.

Hi,

I am running XP MCE (32-bit) with Service Pack 3

Security software in memory is Symantec Antivirus CE version 10.1.7.7000, Windows Defender, Comodo Memory Firewall, Comodo Verification Engine, and Super Ad Blocker.

I also have installed for scans etc. (but not using for realtime protection):
Webroot Spy Sweeper 6, CA Pest Patrol, SuperAntiSpyware, Spyware Terminator, Spybot Search & Destroy, AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, Bazooka Spyware Scanner, Lavasoft Ad-Adware SE Plus, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,
TrojanHunter 5, SpywareBlaster, and HijackThis 2.0.0.2.

Immediately after installing CVA 1.1.4.30, I opened the application and successfully performed a scan (not including the check for Windows updates). It worked fine. I then turned off the option to start with Windows, rebooted, and went back into the application. This time I played around a little bit with the options (turned on the check for Windows updates, started to adjust the option to save scan report but changed my mind). When I scanned this time, CVA crashed. Tried opening the program and scanning a few more times, and each time it crashed (each time, I get the Windows Error Reporting tool telling me that there was an error in the program and that it needs to close etc.). Each time, it puts the exact same two error messages in the events viewer [the same except for the date and time, of course :]. I am pasting them below.

Greetings from LeonSprings, Texas,

This sounds like a good feature to have on our systems, what could this do for Vista?  With the tight security that will not even allow the Admin into some areas and not even save any files under another users access.  I am not that good with these systems, especially Vista, am still trying to learn the ins and outs of this system.  Do not have any other type running so this is all I can do.  Do not like to run too early in ßeta testing because of too many problems.  How close to a fully operational release are you or do you not have any idea.

Thank you for reading my poster roasty,

Hello NTxLS :)

CVA Is Actually Pretty Darn Stable...
Depends on the security, Program Files(And x86 If you have 64 Bit) and Windows Folder would have to be accessible I believe.

If you do have problems I would just create a new topic and tell us about it; You should have a reply within 24 hours if not 48 hours

Did this help you?

Jacob
Thanks....Jake
