Off-Topic! Heffed this is not about moderators if u were one of the devs the we would really like to hear from you as well

And yes we all know FORUM POLICY BUT we want answers to questions and wishes which have been ignored for years and these answers only either melih or egemen can provide

And yes if you or any other moderator have answers to our questions then plz share with us we would love to hear it even if its a yes or a no to the wishlist provided

by the way wishlist are meant so that users request what the want and there are majority of users who want this feature if wishlists cant be fulfilled then why have them in first place ?

You misunderstand.

You are definitely going to hear from a moderator when you make trollish posts. Saying you don't want to hear a moderators opinion is not going to change this. We have very strong opinions on this type of behavior.

The Wishlist is a place for users to make feature suggestions. Comodo staff read these threads, but they are not in any way required to comment on any of them. Not seeing any comments from developers does not mean anything is being ignored.

Would it be nice to get some feedback on whether or not the developers are even considering a proposed feature? Sure!

But to demand that the developers please the users is definitely out of line. I strongly suggest against posting in this manner in the future.

Since This feature is never Gonna get implemented i thought of referring to a companion software called System explorer which resolves ip and dns and more and is also a good replacement for windows task manager and is 100% freeware

Main Site
http://systemexplorer.net/

Forum site
http://systemexplorer.net/forum2/discussions

System Explorer Main Features

Detailed information about Tasks, Processes, Modules, Startups, IE Addons, Uninstallers, Windows, Services, Drivers, Connections and Opened Files.
Easy check of suspicious files via VirusTotal, Jotti service or our File Database.
Easy monitoring of processes activities and System changes.
Usage graphs of important System resources.
Tray Hint with detailed System and Battery status
WMI Browser and System Additional Info
Multilanguage Support

Note
If system explorer can incorporate so many features in 1.75 mb only then why cant CIS incorporate this simple feature in 60 mb

Every one on this forum knows that this has been requested for more than 3 years now and nothing has changed and this topic has always been ignored like not important even when so many users support the topic so i guess better opt for alternative instead of loosing valuable time and information to hackers and malware and being a victim and not being known about

I just installed Comodo today, and got the first alerts of applications trying to connect to various IPs. Of course, I wanted to know what domains resolve to those IPs, so I launched nslookup, then whois. Then after a bunch of alerts, I thought, this is a basic feature, Comodo must have it, maybe it's just disabled by default. But nope.

Today we celebrate 3 years since this basic feature request was posted: reverse IP lookup, and whois lookup. It was also proposed in a Plugins thread and again in this Wishlist thread.

Is it really complicated to do a reverse DNS lookup? How do Comodo devs who eat their own dogfood deal with this usability issue?

Was that reply for me?

Anyway, this particular wish has been around a bit longer than 3 years. However, not all views are the same..
It would be great if in alert message near IP address will be shown HOST Clapping ..
I would also like to see this info.  However, there are some problems that could make this difficult.

1. Depending on the speed of your connection or the response time of the hops, the time it takes to run a background trace route might be excessive.

2. I've been watching and checking IP addresses presented by Comodo.  A lot of time, the IP resolution leads to useless info.  For instance, the IP address might resolve to a site like Akami (an edge hosting company which a lot of big companies use).  Other times, the resolution is to some hosting company or even to a site with no name (even for reputable sites).  There isn't much you can do with this info except OK it if you want to see whatever content it is trying to retrieve.
Agree -- reverse lookup is a real performance problem and if the log is seldomly viewed, a
total waste of time.   Angry
Extraction of the log and performing your own NSLOOKUP $IP is easy
and only those users what that info need spend the time doing so.
But, don't get me wrong. I'm not personally against this wish, I'm actually for it. However, it should probably go hand-in-hand with a second wish.. that you can (a) turn it off and that it is (b) off by default. Smiley

i think for a wish like this a dev should comment. a lot of people are wanting this and it hasnt been implemented yet. just a quick response would be most effective

Nonsense, that's a loaded gun there. I think it would only be effective if that dev said "yes, we're doing it now", otherwise.. much less so.

i would disagree. even if they said no it would put some peoples minds at ease and people would stop waiting. i think its harder to sit and wait and wait just for an answer or to see the feature implemented then to get no for an answer.
thats just my opinion tho

Usually, I would agree with this. But, it has been my experience that people on product forums don't usually take "no" very well when they want a "yes".

You are 100% right and devs should really comment with a yes or no to put peoples mind at rest

it would be nice to be added. But as a toggle option in the settings. Can have it off or on. Or have both IP and Reverse DNS lookup.

I understand peoples concerns for the overhead this would create and in some cases it wouldn't be needed, so...

How about the box pops up as it currently does but with a Gather Info button next/below/above it that will perform a Reverse Lookup/WhoIs etc.

I for one think this is a given. The amount of times I've reverted to hunting ARIN/Ripe for the IPs manually. By the time you come back with the info this thing times out... And I never know if that time out accepted or denied it.. I'm presuming deny as default???
