Chat Clients, like one of my favorites,
YahElite, seem to be attacked and exploited
and one of the larger causes of PC corruption
in the online world...
So how about either an Internet Chat Client
that's compatible w/Yahoo w/no ads banging about
and tight security, or something that would/could
protect existing chat clients like the many IRC
and other type clients like my Fav YahElite,
Even with all the protection I'm sitting on here
in my machine "Flooding" attacks and other same type
exploits are always rearing their ugly heads
and ruining an otherwise nice place to hang out w/my friends and families...

A similar module to the one in Avast, protecting IM clients would be a great idea!

I think it's been mentioned before...

A standalone uninstaller with a bootloader so I can get rid of CAV when it slows machines to a crawl.  It has happened three times when installing to W2ksp4 on Athlon machines.  I can't uninstall from safe mode and the console is unresponsive when running in normal mode.

Each installation goes well until the first AV engine update.  Upon reboot, the machine is sluggish and unusable.

A second product would be something along the lines of the Trinity Resource Kit.  A bootable iso with CAV & the ability to update signatures prior to scanning ntfs partitions.  Also need r/w on ntfs.

I agree. I had to uninstall CAV from my son's Athlon as this happened as well. I keep a knoppix or Bart PE disk handy when booting issues occur or you can't use the pc, I rendered CAV usless using Knoppix and then booted back to PC.  Wink I just threw my Vcom on there for now until some issues are resolved. Not a problem though, I know Comodo comes through  when there are problems.  Wink

P.S. Did you happen to see how your Bunny in a Blender killed Bunny and spawned the evil Scomodo? This is turning into  a full story, lol.  Check it out here...

I missed that thread; thanks  Grin

I would love to work out the details of this post update performance problem with CAV, but I hafta make money at some point and can't devote a lot of time.  In the instances where I've been unable to use CAV, I've installed Avast or F-Prot and the users are happy.

One thing I didn't note before is that the troubles occurred on machines that had been in service for a while and had previous AV software (AVG & Avast) that I uninstalled right before installing CAV.  Dunno if that's the root cause, but some combination makes stuff very unhappy.

I've got CAV running on a fresh install of XP Home without a problem.  I've got CPF running here too.  Not a single issue even after the AV update.

Perhaps you have a point, my son had others installed previous to CAV which I usually do a good job cleaning up, but perhaps some registry crap from those others, i'll check into this....

Here are my thought-

POP UP STOPPER
ANTI SPYWARE & ADWARE
SYSTEM OPTIMISER

If possible make all COMODO products Integrate after installed. One UPDATE click for all products!
Show INTERNET SECURITY or MINITOR on system toolbar instead  COMODO LAUNCH PAD RUNNING!

I'll come back later if I think of any Grin

Your problem is most likely due to residual files left over from the previous AV.A good utility to try would be Advanced Windows Care. That should sort out the registry.

I have no doubt that there are leftovers lying around.  I've just reached the point of diminishing returns.  I cycle PC's in and out of my life so often that it doesn't make sense to spend much time on a problem like this.  Instead, I'll wait for the next build and try again with a clean registry.  Till that time, I have alternatives that work well.

I'd rather be outside playing with the dog.

Me too but my mother in law complains every time I hit her in the head with the frisbee.  Wink

How about Comodo makes a system monitor? All processes, programs, alert logs, the whole 9 yards.
I would think it would be flashy, fast, and just fun to have. There are many free ones but they lack a certain something. I think this would be excellent, Comodo system monitor. Cpu temp, all in real time, or close.  Clapping I truly think this would be a great freeware program to throw around and would compliment the comodo security product familly nicely.

  Cheers,

How about something for mobile phones. More & more ppl are using WAP (although, IMHO, it is fairly grim when compared to a 19" monitor). Something to Protect & Serve all those Java based WAP users.

I would LOVE to see a bootable CD of Trustix, complete with Gnome or KDE AND a Linux port of CAV capable of r/w to ntfs partitions for AV removal.  I'm using the Trinity Resource Kit now, but would like to see how CAV compares to ClamAV.
