Backup with more abilities

Perhaps the creation of a more full featured backup program with the ability to span multiple discs using DVD-Ram.  In addition the ability to not only make a full copy but to compress these copies in their alternate location so as not to take up too much drive space and have it so that if a user needs to revert back to one of the backed up files, the program should restore the compressed back on the fly.  ie. A list of compressed files that can be highlighted and a button that simply says restore with a confirmation to overwrite while the program actually makes a temporary copy of the original until the user is satisfied with the restore operation either manual acknowledgment or automatic prompting after restored file has been opened.
